Faith Rally Time! (New date: Thursday, January 31, 2013)
“This is the reason we’re at this school.” This statement was made by a parent following our inaugural Faith Rally last
year at the conclusion of Catholic Schools Week. For our new families or parents that may not have been able to at-
tend, our Faith Rally is a whole school event (parents are invited and encouraged to attend!) in which we celebrate
and grow in our faith as a whole community.
The day begins with Mass and continues in the Social Hall with adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. The students are
grouped by Faith Families for the day with 8th graders leading the charge of those families with a teacher. Families
rotate through various stations such as Saint Skits, adoration, and service projects. When asked last year what their
favorite part of the day was, most of the students said it was adoration, when Father James Cuddy, O.P. brought Je-
sus in the Blessed Sacrament to each person to pray over them. Many students drew that moment as their favorite!
We welcome Father Cuddy from Providence, Rhode Island back this year. We are blessed to have him join us as he
brings a great love of the Blessed Sacrament and exposes the children to the vocation to religious life as a priest. We
hope that many of you will join us for this beautiful day in this Year of Faith!

Artist of the Week by Mrs. Fioritto, Art Teacher
This week's very talented and creative artist is Noah
Schraut in 7th grade. Noah did an excellent job on
his "warm-up" exercise in which all students were
given the same set of instructions - such as drawing
4 straight lines, 3 varieties of dots, a circle touching
one dot, curved and angle lines, then coloring in with
marker in a variety of patterns and solids, leaving 3
spaces white. This assignment showed us that we
are all unique and capable of making our own crea-
tive choices! See more outside the art room - they
look really cool all together, like a big quilt! Well
done, Noah!
Da Vinci Fest Registration
Deadline is this Friday!
If your child has artwork that he/she would
like to enter in the upcoming Da Vinci Fest,
please make sure you go to
www.partnershipplan.org by this Friday,
December 7 to register. I have a pile of
artwork that students have told me they
want to enter, so be sure to let me know if
your child is registered so that I can get
the work properly mounted and labeled.
Please email me at [email protected] to
confirm that your child is registered and
also tell me the title
of his/her work
and, if they have
more than one
piece, what priority
they wish their
pieces to be in case
there isn't room to
exhibit them all.
Any questions,
please let me know.
Thanks!

SCCS Lego League Team
Congratulations to the SCCS 4th and 5th grade Lego League Team named
the Senior Spartans! They participated in a regional tournament this past
weekend in Mounds View and came home with silver medals. They
placed 9th overall in the 16 team tournament. The significance of this ac-
complishment is that they were competing against teams all the way
through 8th grade. They competed in 3 judging events related to team-
work, technical robot design and programming, and a research project on
creating a solution to help challenges faced by Seniors, and then 4 rounds
of the Lego robot competition. Team members include Sean LeRoux, Matthew Harrington, Tyler Schmelz, Jordan
Eiselt, Bobby Fedor, Alex King, Kyle Pineda, and Leo Loomis. The team is coached by SCCS parents Mrs. Deb
LeRoux and Mrs. Karen King. Way to go Senior Spartans!
