East Loddon Remembers – Exciting Event Tomorrow!
We simply cannot wait for the
Remembrance Day ceremony and
grand opening of the East Loddon
Remembers World War One
Memorial Site tomorrow at
10:45am. This event will be held
at the entrance to our College
and is sure to be a thoroughly
impressive ceremony. The actual
memorial site has now been
almost entirely completed and it
looks simply amazing. Do yourself
a favour and get along to the
ceremony if you are at all able to. It is sure to be worth it!
Thanks For The Terrific Pics and Footage Jamie!
At our recent College Athletics Sports I mentioned the presence of a drone, which was
being flown by Jamie Columbus. Jamie has now provided the College with amazing
images and footage at two sporting
events, with our staff and students
always intrigued by the aerial views
that he and his drone provide for
us.
Thanks Jamie!!!

Year 12 Exams
Our Year 12 students have continued to impress with their preparedness for exams this week, with many students
continuing to meet with College staff to go over notes and give themselves the best possible chance to succeed.
Exams last for approx. another 2 weeks and we appreciate all that our staff and students are doing to ensure that
our Year 12’s can have a successful exam period.
College Advertises For A 2019 Business Manager
As mentioned last week, the College is currently advertising for a 2019 Business Manager, with applications
closing this week. There has been a very pleasing level of interest in this position and we are very confident in
appointing a tremendous applicant to the role. On completion of the recruitment process, the successful applicant
will be announced to the College community.
Respectful Relationships – Would You Like To Help Us With A Quote?
During Respectful Relationships time next week, students and staff will be focussing on what Respectful
Relationships (RR) means to them. This will involve us asking all College staff and students to provide an
‘inspirational quote’ or statement on RR. If you would like to help with this also, then please do!
We would like to use some of these quotes around the College towards the end of the year and in 2019 as a way
to further help us all to focus on the importance of being respectful to one-another.
The Mo’s Have Appeared…
There was a great deal of discussion take place in the lead-up to November and as of this morning we have had a
few moustaches fashioned for the Movember campaign. Whilst we will not be pushing terribly hard on the
fundraising cause, we will certainly be endeavouring to raise awareness of men’s health.
First Aid Course For Students and Community Members – Running From The College
Murray Mallee Training will be running a first aid course at our College on Tuesday 27th November for interested
students and community members. Participants will need to ensure that they have a USI number, and the course
will cost $105- per participant. Please have a think about whether you would like to take part in this course, as
names will be requested shortly.
Participants will also need to complete a booklet and associated forms prior to the course.
I hope you have a great week!

Literacy Hints
Bump It Up! To improve your child’s vocabulary, and therefore reading and writing skills, use and encourage the
use of more sophisticated words (call items by their proper names) and use adjectives and adverbs to make lan-
guage more descriptive. Books are a tremendous avenue for language development so remember to read regularly
to your child and discuss the meaning of new language.

Outdoor Classroom Day
Last Thursday many of our classes participated in activities for Outdoor Classroom Day. While many of us wished the weather was a little nicer, students still made the most of getting outdoors. Activities ranged from reading in Literacy to making political speeches in Humanities and running dictation in German. We were also fortunate to have Simon Penrose, our Koorie Inclusion Support Officer, here to run Aboriginal games and a string making workshop.

Book Recommendation
Brandon C from Year 7 recommends “Stories for Boys Who Dare To
Be Different” by Ben Brooks.
“On each page of the book is a different story about people who
dared to be different and changed the world because of it. My fa-
vourite story is about a pilot who’s plane was going down, but managed to land the
plane in a river, saving all passengers. I’m really enjoying this book and recommend
it from Year 5 and up.

Year 9 Humanities: Outdoor Classroom Political speeches Mr Rudkins As part of their Civics and Citizenship studies Year 9 students formed political parties based on shared perspectives on current political is-sues. The parties represented a cross section of views and highlighted concerns about the environment, drought and climate change, de-fence, education and health. Students presented a 3 minute speech on the central lawn as they do at Speakers corner in Hyde Park, London. There was an absence of rotten tomatoes, much to the speakers de-light! Students also made a 1 minute political advertisement promising to do all sorts of things for the good of the country. Party names in-cluded the Skinny legends fighting against obesity, the Good Life party and Australian Environment party addressing health and environmen-tal issues and the Aus Action party looking to solve the drought and shore up our defence. The Fundamentals campaigned hard on pro-moting education and health in rural regions while the Ag Tech party looked to offer long term action on drought and climate change while trumpeting the benefits of new technology. All were willing to spend your dollar in the chase for votes. The students spoke well and showed some creativity in their exercise of political voice. All went about the process in true democratic fashion although the Skinny Legends did ad-vocate for an end to democracy and offered themselves as autocratic rulers on the basis that knew what was best for all of us!!
