Fringe Supply Co.
IT’S HARD TO SAY where my life ends and
Fringe Supply Co. begins. I don’t just mean
because, as a small-business owner, I pour so
much time, energy and love into it. Or that I
wear so many hats. I mean that it’s a direct
reflection of my life as a knitter, and vice versa.
When I find something I love and use, I buy it
for Fringe so you can have it too. When I can’t
find something I love enough, I design it and
have it made — for me and for you. I’m a bag
lady, so there are a lot of bags — but only the
most useful ones. I keep tools (especially stitch
markers and pins) close at hand in pretty little
trays, so I’ve added the perfect ones to the shop. Essentially, I want my knitting
life to be as beautiful and organized as possible, and I want the same for you!
When it came to photographing this year’s lookbook, I wanted to tell that story. I
flew to Seattle to shoot with my friend Kathy Cadigan again. We rented a house
that’s not terribly unlike my own.* (In fact, that trunk on the opposite page came
home with me!) We knitted, we went out to lunch, did a little shopping, and
everywhere we went, we took our knitting with us. As we all do.
Contrary to retail norms, I don’t change things up very much in the webshop — a
byproduct of only selling goods I personally love, use and believe in. But I do have
a few surprises for you this holiday season. The biggest one is pictured at left —
my beloved Field Bag now in four canvas colors. In addition to the wildly popular
natural bag, you’ll now find it in grey, black and army green. We’re trying them
out for the holidays, so make sure to let me know what you think.
Again and always, thank you so much for supporting small and artisanal
businesses — mine and the others represented here. Here’s wishing you the
happiest possible holiday season and a joyful new year—
—Karen Templer, Proprietor
