We would like to welcome our new members!
It has truly been a pleasure working at the Manhattan Country Club this past
year and a half. I feel very blessed to have had the opportunity to be acquainted with
so many Member families. You have welcomed me into the Club and into your lives. The Club
managers and staff have become my friends too. We have worked hard and yet have had tons of fun.
The Club has been one of the best companies I have ever worked for. And Dave is an awesome
General Manager. I am going to miss my Club family . . . but I am going home to my family in
Colorado. Thank you all for your friendship & support. I will be back at the end of June for a couple of
days. Maybe I will see you then. Have a wonderful summer!!
During my time with MCC, over 100 new Member families joined the Club. Sixty of those joined
in the “Your Club Our Future” dues structure since November 1st, 2013. As Members in the higher
dues categories sponsor new Member families, their dues may also be lowered by 30% -
permanently. I want to reiterate that the lower dues are not a temporary reduction. Even though the
Initiation Fee may eventually go up to the full amount, the dues will remain lower for new Members.
The Social Committee has planned a really fun Roaring 20’s party called the Great MCC
Gatsby. It’s going to be a great time. I hope you all put this event on your calendar. Please call the
office to get your ENTRY PASSWORD.
I have every confidence that the new Office Manager/Membership Director, Sarah Boggs, will
be able to pick up the reins and carry on where I have left off. I hope you all enjoyed the improved
Social calendar and activities. If you have ideas for future events, please let us know.
Fondly,
~ Diana

A Letter from Our Golf Pros
Greeting Manhattan Country Club Members!
If you haven't been out to the club recently, you're missing out. The golf course looks
absolutely beautiful and is in terrific condition. Please come out and take advantage of
your club!
The month of June brings a couple of events that I would like to bring to your attention.
June 12th-14th is the 2014 Men's Member-Guest and on June 29th we will have the
"Battle of the Sexes" golf event. Should you need any more information or would like to
sign up for these events. Please call the Golf Shop at (785) 539-6221.
On a more saddening note, Assistant Golf Professional Joe Yashuk has accepted a new
position at Jupiter Country Club in Jupiter, Florida. I would like to thank Joe for all of his
work during his tenure here at Manhattan Country Club and also wish him the best of
luck in his new role in Florida. Joe will be with us at MCC until the end of June. Please
stop by when you're at the club and wish him well on his new venture in Florida.
See you at the club!
Regards,
Blake Graham
PGA Head Professional
To all the members of Manhattan Country Club. I have enjoyed my year here
at MCC. I want to thank all of the members and staff who have made me feel
at home and have treated me like family. I will be leaving at the end of June
to pursue a new opportunity as the 1st Assistant Golf Professional at Jupiter
Country Club in Jupiter, Florida. I am excited for my new position, but I will
miss MCC very much and look forward to seeing everyone before I leave.
Joe Yashuk, PGA
A Letter from Our Course Superintendent
Sand & Seed June 9th
5:30pm to 7:30pm
Please call the Pro-shop to volunteer your time and help MCC
with course maintenance. To show our appreciation we will be
providing dinner to those of you who have volunteered.
Things on the golf course have been going well so far this spring! The
greens mowers have arrived and have been adjusted to our liking. We have
noticed the difference in performance with the new mowers as compared to
the old mowers. The greens seem to be rolling more consistently day in and
day out. Once again, thank you to all those who helped make this possible.
So far this spring, the rainfall has not been as adequate as hoped for.
We have been monitoring the golf course and watering only when necessary.
Quality rainfall would be appreciated.
We hope to see you at the Sand and Seed party on June 9th. Your help
is greatly appreciated.
If you have any questions, comments or concerns, please feel free to
contact me.

A Message from our General Manager
Pool Games
at 1 pm
The “Your Club, Our Future” membership plan has been a big success with 60 new and reinstated members
joining the Club which puts us at a total of 486 memberships. Many of you deserve all of our thanks for the success
of this program. A healthy, vibrant club begins with its Members’ club pride. There is still work to be done to reach
our budgeted goal of 525 memberships. Please keep sharing with your friends and family the value of belonging to
the Club;…bring them out for a round of golf, day at the pool, FAC or one of the many other events and activities we
offer. I believe you will find that others want to be a part of our “Club Family”; they’re just waiting to be asked.
We’re finally seeing the warmth of summer arrive and I know you are all excited about spending quality time at the
Club and around the pool. This year, Chef has developed a new menu including several of your favorites and many
new items sure to please. Pool Manager, Kelly Shamburg, and her staff are looking forward to a great season.
Golf is in full swing and the Men’s Member-Guest featured on the front cover is sure to fill up fast. Please call the
Golf Shop today to sign up. Many other events are planned throughout the summer. The small golf schedules that fit
well in your wallet or purse are located on the counter in the Golf Shop. Please grab one and plan your golf outings
for the season. Blake has been busy giving lessons to our Members. I’ve heard many stories about the
improvements they are seeing in their games. The Golf Shop is now completely stocked and has many items we’ve
not seen in the past. Please take advantage of the new selections and support our Pro when you’re considering a
golf equipment or apparel purchase.
Please watch the Fore & More and the email blast for information on several other fun NEW events this year such
as the June 20th Great Gatsby Roaring 20’s party, July 19th a Dive-in-Movie night at the pool featuring the movie Rio
II and to top the season off; we are having an adult Drive-In movie August 23rd at the driving range featuring the
movie Caddyshack. Seating will be in golf carts. The beverage cart will serve as the concession stand stocked with
your favorite snacks, hot dogs and adult beverages.
Our July 3rd & 4th celebration promises to be more fun than ever. This year on the 3rd we’re bringing in a bounce
house, giant slide, bungee trampoline and a rock climbing wall along with our ever popular cotton candy, Sno-cones
& face painting. For the adults, we have a putting and chipping contest starting at 7:30pm with 100% of the proceeds
paid back to the membership for 1st, 2nd & 3rd in each event. We’ll feature our picnic style buffet from 6-8 pm in the
ballrooms. We will “feed hundreds” so please make your reservations early. The fireworks begin at dusk which is
usually around 9:30. Please bring your blankets and lawn chairs and set them up on the #1 fairway for a great view
of the Fireworks display.
On the 4th, we’ll have the annual Flag Tournament and Poolside Buffet with family games and activities. This two
day celebration is our most popular event of the year and we encourage you to bring your friends and families. This
year, the Board of Directors unanimously approved to charge each membership a nominal fee of $10 billed on your
May statement to help defray the $5,500 cost of our private fireworks display and family entertainment. I hope you
understand and please come out to enjoy the event. Should you have any questions about this billing please contact
me.
As always, if I can be of any assistance helping you recruit a new member or two, please don’t hesitate to ask. I
look forward to seeing you around the Club and participating in the many tournaments, activities and events we have
planned for you this season.
