FLOW AND HEAT TRANSFER IN HORIZONTALRECTANGULAR MICROCHANNELSThe book reports a part of results of a long term experimental projectdevoted to investigating single-phase flow pressure drop and heattransfer, flow boiling pressure drop and heat transfer, flow boilinginstability and flow visualization of de-ionized water flow inmicrochannels. However, the main focus in this book is to presentexperimental results for single-phase flow and heat transfercharacteristics in rectangular microchannels.The authors is encouragedto write this book because of noticed discrepancies between publishedresults and conventional theory. The single-phase fluid flow resultsshowed that no deviation of friction factors was found from the threedifferent hydraulic diameters. The effect of fluid temperature on frictionfactor was insignificant and the friction factors themselves were inreasonable agreement with the developing flow theory. The single-phase heat transfer results demonstrated that smaller test sectionsresult in higher heat transfer coefficients. However, for heat transfertrends presented in the form of Nusselt number versus Reynoldsnumber, the effect of hydraulic diameter was insignificant.
