YEAR END CONTRIBUTIONS This is a review of
the IRS rules concerning year
end contributions of cash and
securities. In general, the
delivery date determines the
year in which the contribution can be claimed
as a deduction. If gifts of cash are mailed, the
date of mailing is the delivery date. If gifts are
delivered by any other means, the date the gifts
are received by the charity is the delivery date.
More specifically, checks mailed with a
postmark of December 31, 2015 will be
credited as a contribution in 2015. Hand-
delivered checks, received prior to January
1, 2016 will be credited as 2015
contributions. 2016 OFFERING ENVELOPES Everyone who used offering envelopes during
2015 has been issued envelopes for 2016. If you make
your contributions electronically, please be sure to check
your offering envelope number with your bank for 2016. In an effort to save the cost of postage to mail your
envelopes (about $2.30 per person), please pick them up at the rear of the
sanctuary. They are in alphabetical order for your convenience. If you have a
family member, friend or neighbor who cannot be here to pick up their offering
envelopes, please take them and deliver them. If you did not use offering
envelopes in 2015, but would like them for 2016, please call Nancy Felter in the
church office during the week.
TIP OF THE WEEK
FOOD: As much as 40% of the energy used in
the food system goes towards the production of
chemical fertilizers and pesticides (Sustainable
Table). Can’t afford to eat everything
organically? Some fruits and vegetables are
sprayed with more pesticides than others, and
cannot be cleaned of pesticide residues as easily
- start small by choosing organic for these
“Dirty Dozen” fruits and vegetables that fit this
category: peach, apple, bell pepper, celery,
nectarine, strawberries, cherries, kale, lettuce,
grapes (imported), carrot and pears. http://

STEPHEN MINISTRY FAITH AND LIFE SERIES “TAKE TIME TO BREATHE: HOW TO CARE FOR THE CAREGIVER”
Monday, January 11, 2016 - 7:00PM - Room 120
We don't expect to become caregivers until
circumstances require it. It can be an unknown and rocky path as
we try to meet the needs of a family member. As a certified
Geriatric Care Manager, Ruth Rothbart-Mayer will lead a
discussion on navigating the problems of care giving and finding
the balance. Ms. Rothbart-Mayer comes to us as a volunteer
from the United Way of Northern New Jersey's Caregiver Coalition. We met Ms.
Mayer in October when our Stephen Ministry hosted a networking meeting of
over 50 Stephen Ministers from many different churches. She was very well
received and we are delighted to have her back!
