The Darboy Kiwanis Club and the Times Villager announce the KHS Student of the Month.
April: Allyson Brown
Collin Van Cuyk, a senior at Kimberly High School, has advanced to become a finalist in the 2019 National Merit Scholarship Program! This talented high school student has an opportunity to continue in the competition for some
7,500 scholarships worth about $31 million that will be offered next spring. National Merit Semifinalists are selected based on their excellent performance on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). Great job to Collin for pursuing excellence in academics!
Klaire Kulas is a recipient of a Herb Kohl Educational Foundation Student Initiative Scholarship. She is involved with many KHS choirs, including the concert choir, mixed vocal jazz and the Satins. She is also an active member in the KHS theatre productions. Herb Kohl Student Initiative Scholarship recipients,
chosen by their school, have demonstrated exceptional initiative in the classroom and have shown strong promise for succeeding in college and beyond, but have not yet received other academic-based scholarships. This year the Herb Kohl Educational Foundation is awarding students throughout Wisconsin with $10,000 Student Initiative Scholarships.
Congratulations to Damian Huss! The last Math Meet for the Fox Valley Math League was held Monday, March 11th at Oshkosh West. Damian placed in the junior division and received a medal for his performance at the meet. The team had an enjoyable year competing against the 18 schools in
Northeast Wisconsin that comprise the league. The returning members are very much looking forward to the coming year.

Dear Kimberly High School Parent or Guardian,
Beginning in the 14-15 school year, the state of Wisconsin introduced a number of changes to the state’s student assessment system. Since that time, those changes have remained consistent and include:
ACT Aspire Early High School Assessment - grades nine and ten ACT and ACT WorkKeys - grade eleven Wisconsin Forward - grade ten
The ACT Aspire Early High School Assessment will cover five subject areas for students in grades nine and ten: reading, math, writing, language arts, and science. The tests will be computer-delivered and will be spread out over multiple days. Students in grade nine will test during their English classes from April 8th - 12th. Students in grade ten will test on April 24th and 25th during a modified school schedule. In addition, students in grade ten will take the Wisconsin Forward Exam, a social studies test, that will be administered by computer as part of our modified schedule on April 25th.
In addition, every junior in the state of Wisconsin is required to take the ACT and WorkKeys assessments. This year, those tests will be held on February 20th and 21st. All juniors will report on those dates for the testing schedule. One significant change from last year is that juniors will be the only class to report on February 20th. Grades 9,10, and 12 will not report on February 20th but will follow the modified school schedule on February 21st.
Please note the modified school schedules listed on the next page for important dates regarding spring assessments. If possible, please avoid these dates with scheduled absences for your student.
Additional information about the ACT Aspire Early High School Assessment and Wisconsin Forward Exam will be shared as the spring assessment dates get closer.
More information for families is available from the Wisconsin DPI by clicking here. If you have questions about any of our state assessments for the year, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Sincerely,
Kaaren Weyers

The Kimberly Area School District is dedicated to providing the safest environment for our
students and staff. During the 2018-19 school year, schools will be implementing a new secure
access system, commonly known as a "buzz-in entry".
KHS implemented this system on Monday, March 25, 2019, so please follow the steps below to gain access
to Kimberly High School:
All visitors (including family members, volunteers, and vendors are required to follow the buzz-in procedure
during the school day.)
When you arrive, press the button on the bottom of the intercom. Guests may be asked
to present a picture ID.
A staff member may be asking some clarifying questions before granting you access to
the building.
If an office member is not in immediate proximity of the intercom or helping another
person you may have to wait for a minute or two to be recognized.
Once inside, continue to sign in at the office and wear a visitor badge while in the school.
We are aware that this system will require a change in practice for staff, families, and visitors. Thank you for
your patience and support as we work to create the safest learning environment possible.

Seeking Substitute Paraprofessionals – Help our students reach their potential! Do you enjoy helping kids and having a flexible schedule? We are looking for substitute paraprofessionals. Paraprofessionals assist teachers and students throughout the school day. Substitute paraprofessionals have a flexible work schedule and a lot of variety in their work. If you know someone who is looking for a rewarding and flexible career where they would be helping all students succeed, please help us by sharing this link with them: www.kimberly.k12.wi.us/careers
Weather Cancellations and Delays
If weather conditions dictate that there will be no school or a delayed start, a decision to keep the schools closed is usually made by 6:00 a.m. Parents with students in school receive a direct call, text and/or email from our auto-call system through Infinite Campus since that is the fastest way to communicate with thousands of parents at one time. Family Move - Outside of the Kimberly Area School District
When a family moves outside of the Kimberly Area School District, students may continue to attend the school where they are currently enrolled if they qualify for a Tuition Waiver (obtained from the district office). Students who qualify for a Tuition Waiver are entitled to continue their enrollment through the waiver period. However, they are required to apply for Open Enrollment during the next Open Enrollment application period if they want to remain in the Kimberly Area School District after the Tuition Waiver has expired.
For additional information, please contact Jen Bixler at (920)423-4166 or email her at [email protected]
Family Move - Within the Kimberly Area School District
When a family move occurs within the Kimberly Area School District, students may continue to attend the school where they are currently enrolled even though their residence has changed to another Kimberly Area School District attendance area.
Parents who wish to have their student(s) remain in the same school after a move within the school district must complete the School Request Form located on the district website under Student &
Parents>Enrollment>Attendance and return it to the district office Attn: Sara Vogel.
For additional information regarding school request contact Sara Vogel at (920)423-4122
We receive many worthwhile requests to be included in our newsletter. Since we cannot possibly include them all here, please remember to go to the District website frequently and check out the Community Events. There are many more great opportunities and activities listed there.
The Kimberly Area School District charges a $25.00 processing fee for any check returned to us as non-sufficient funds.
Are you on our mailing list?
We want to ensure parents of young children (age0-5) in our District are on our mailing list, so you can receive information relative to your child’s age group, such as early childhood screening information or 4K and 5K registration information. We also need to have information for all children age 0-21 for state reporting. Click on the link http://goo.gl/DFjSne to complete the census form, or complete and mail the census from found here htps://goo.gl/TkNvX6. If you know of other families with children in our District that may not be in our system, please help us by sharing this information with them.
The Kimberly Area School District does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, ancestry, creed, pregnancy, marital status, parental status, sexual orientation, sex, (including transgender status, change of sex or gender identity), or physical, mental, emotional, or learning disability ("Protected Classes") in any of its student programs and activities.
