JUSTIFICATIONOFDESTINATIONCHOICEThe authors chose this destination since they believe that Fiji is a wonderful tourist
destination which offers everything an incentive tourist can wait for. Fiji is able to
offer an unforgettable incentive tour for deserving employees who can enjoy
unspoiled beaches and warm-hearted, friendly people after long hard-working
hours. It possesses a relaxing atmosphere along with a spectacular natural
heritage of lush tropical flora and fauna.
More recently, Fiji's tropical climate and location on Pacific air routes have
increased the popularity of Fiji as a tourist destination. The Fiji islands are situated

in the South Pacific Ocean east of Vanuatu, west ofTonga and south ofTuvalu.
The country comprises an archipelago of about 322 islands. This great number of
coral islands is a dream for holiday seekers. The Islands are of volcanic origin
covered with lush tropical flora and are surrounded by spectacular coral reefs,
which are located by an abundance of fish and marine life.
Fiji is inhabited by a extremely hospitable population, especially on the two largest
islands - Viti Levu (Great Fiji) and Vanua Levu (Great Land of the People). Fijians
are known as some of the friendliest people in the world. They do not judge other
people and rarely express negative opinions. The Bula philosophy, meaning
welcome, is true in the whole territory of the island and ensures a wonderful stay in
Fiji. For the authors incentive package, they decided on Nadi, the third-largest
conurbation in Fiji that is located on the western side of Viti Levu. Nadi region is a
hub of commerce and tourism, with about 18 wonderful hotels. It is situated close
to the largest airport in Fiji, Nadi International Airport, located nine kilometers from
the city.
KEY TOURISM PRODUCTS AND SERVICES FOR THE INCENTIVE MARKET(PRODUCT-MARKETMATCH)
Incentives are trips organized by companies for the employees. They should have
a unique element and should have motivational character. They are intended to
reward the employees for past performance or increase motivation for future
projects.

The key tourism products and services for the incentive market could be regarded
as the following: Transport business, hotels, entertainment companies, destination
management organizations.
As mentioned above Fiji is one of the most hospitable destinations in the whole
world. It literally bubbles with positive energy and life spirit. This alone is worth a
visit to Fiji and is an experience in itself. The people are friendly and welcoming;
they greet all visitors with enthusiasm and thus create a very relaxing and sorrow-
free atmosphere.
The job of sales representatives is always a very demanding and stressful job, the
job of an insurance broker even more so. It is for that very reason that the authors
suggest Fiji as the perfect destination for QBEs employees. The company wants
to reward them for their hard work and good results in the past year and therefore,
invite them on the planned incentive trip.
Which destination could be better suited to recharge ones empty batteries and
relax in a calming but inspiring environment. Time ticks differently on Fiji, and
human contact is more important than it is in our Western high-tech low-touch
world. This incentive trip to Fiji will be an honest and rewarding way of QBE to say
thank you to its employees and motivate them for the challenges still to come.
The authors think that the destination chosen will be a perfect match for the needs
of QBE and its employees.

PRESENTATIONOFSELECTEDCOMPANY
Our client is a big Insurance company with its headquarter located in Sydney,
Australia. The QBE Company rewards their best employees every year with a
special Incentive program outside of Australia. This year it may take place on the
main island of Fiji, called Nadi. According to the policies and guidelines of the
government in Fiji, there is no need for a visa for Australian visitors, who go there
on a trip

worldwide. QBE now operates in all key insurance markets with offices in 45
countries, employing 13,000 workers worldwide.
The Australian executive management offers every year an Incentive program for
the best 70 QBE sales representatives of the whole continent. The performance of
the employees will be measured on the number of the covered insurances in order
to a monetary target which has to be achieved by an individual person.
The best 70 QBE employees will be rewarded once a year with a special Incentive
program. At our encouragement program there are no partners included because
the focus will be on teambuilding and collaboration and therefore, we decided to
choose even more employees than last year to join the QBE Incentive program.
For the year 2009, the Executive Board remunerates their employees with a
journey to the wonderful islands of Fiji. Since the perfect time to travel to Fiji is in
April, the Incentive program will take place in the year 2010.
After consideration of the annual financial statements, the top 70 employees of
whole Australia could be identified by means of a specific software program by the
Board of Directors. In January 70 employees will get the positive message that he
or she has achieved the goal for 2009 and in order to that the invitation for a
participation of the QBE Incentive program in Fiji. By the end of January the
rewarded employees will be invited to come to Sydney to get information about the
trip, especially about the Incentive program and also about the arrangements they
have to do in advance. Two weeks before the employees are going to Fiji, the
assistant to the CEO sends out destination-kits including a hotel brochure, a map

of Fiji, an agenda of the program and some other relevant information for the trip.

Dine under the stars Gala Night with QBE Excellence Awards
The last evening of an incentive program always has to be exceptional and
memorable in every way in order to reinforce the positive experience that the
participants have enjoyed in the course of the preceding week. As the nice
weather in April on Fiji allow it we will have a formal but open-air dinner reception,
a dine under the stars Gala Night. The dinner will be held in the form of a
banquet with round tables for 8-10 persons with a 4-course gala-menu served to
the guests. After dinner the CSO of QBE will hold a small award ceremony for the
10 best sales people in the QBE sales force. They will be honored in front of their
co-workers with the QBE Excellence Awards. This is a special honor for the
employees as it is a tangible and take-home reward for their efforts during the past

IMPACTSOF INCENTIVE PACKAGEONTOURISMINDUSTRY
As this Incentive Package will include transport, accommodation, tours and special
events during the stay, the Incentive program will have certainly a positive impact
on the tourism industry of the Fiji islands. As we know, every second citizen of
these magnificent islands is occupied by tourism activity. Fiji has been the leader
in tourism among South Pacific countries for the last several decades and this
industry has been Fiji's fastest-growing one.
Not all is well in this unstable tourism industry; however the more tourists will visit
this paradise the more will be satisfied by attentive service and ambulance. We
want to induce the employees to obtain wonderful impressions of the destination
and show that Fiji is a very attractive place for vacations with a high quality of
service. If Fiji islands is in the requisition as a popular tourism destination it will
allow new service enhancement and sponsors involvements. Foreign investors
may have more commitment to stay in Fiji, especially during difficult economic and
political times. This means, that Fiji will be able to attract tourists from other
developed countries including United States, Europe and Japan where tourists are
also being wooed by other cheaper destinations. Moreover, Fiji will become a
competitive tourist spot to expensive places such as Bali and Hawaii. Furthermore,
tourism will be a main source of income for the countrys economic growth and
sustainable social development.

The Sonaisali Island Resort provides actions to address important issues which
will contribute positively to the long term viability of the destination. There are a lot
of improvements to the local environments and social performances.
Environmental actions encourage resorts guests to adopt principles to reduce,
reuse, recycle and rethink. And environmental protection programs like support to
the Mamanuca Enviroment Society for coral reef conservation does offer
employees the opportunity to participate in resource conservation efforts and
understand the uniqueness of the Fijis area.

EDUCATIONAL OUTCOME
During the course of this project the group has learned a lot about all the different
aspects that need to be taken into consideration when organizing an Incentive.
There are a lot of things to take care of and it takes meticulous planning to deliver
a successful Incentive program.
It was very interesting not to learn only theoretically about Incentive Programs but
to develop also a kind of realistic Incentive Program on our own. That gave us the
chance to get a good feeling of required costs and other special requirement for
such a program.

It was also very interesting to learn more about the destination of Fiji. The authors
have realized that it is an up and coming tourism destination, with great potential
and exceptional service.
Finally it can be said that the group could definitely broaden its horizon in terms of
Incentive Programs which could be very useful in our further career.

should be taken in rural areas. Bottled water is available. Milk is pasteurized and
dairy products are safe for consumption. Local meat, poultry, seafood, fruit and
vegetables are generally considered safe to eat.
Health Care
The main hospitals are located in Ba, Labasa, Lautoka, Levuka, Savusavu,
