Fernley Moose Lodge 2468 & Chapter 2150 October, 2015
With summer over, we now begin to settle
down with shorter days and longer and colder
nights. We always keep the heat on at the Lodge,
and just like Motel 6, “We’ll leave the light on for
you”, so when your patio is too cold and dreary,
come on down and enjoy your Lodge.
We’ve started serving some kind of food again for Monday Night
Football, and if we have the interest, we’ll try to have it for the Thursday
games also. Let us know if you’re interested, and particularly if you’d be
willing to help.
The Fall Season Cribbage Tournament kicks off again this month
on Wednesday, 10/7, and we expect another 8 weeks of intense competition.
So come on down and join in the fun. Because of the blind draw format, we
change partners every week, so regardless of your experience or skill level,
anyone can win. Based on the expectation of at least 16 players, the prize
money will be no less than $600.00. With more participation, the pot will be
even larger, so come and join in the fun and get your piece of the pie. We’ve
tweaked the rules just slightly concerning forfeits and “no shows” and the
rules are posted in the social quarters. I hope to see a lot of you here on
Wednesday nights at 7:00 pm. By the way, we also try to have
complimentary hot dogs during the tournament. Just another reason to
participate.
The 10th will be a big day for the Lodge. It starts with a free
pancake breakfast which will be open to the public to help us promote our
Lodge. Then, that evening, the Blue & Gold will be preparing the evening
meal which will be followed by Karaoke and the Lodge Birthday
celebration. Come down to your Lodge and be part of the fun.
We already have over 30 reservations for our Steak Dinner on the
24th. These will be “hand cut, cooked to order” Rib Eye Steaks with all the
fixins. Chef Dave and Chef Jack are the culinary artists for this event, so we
already know how great it is going to be. We can accommodate as many as
sign up, but we must know ahead of time how many to plan for. So sign the
reservation sheet in the social quarters, or call to get your name on the list,
otherwise; you may not get any supper.
Finally, to all who helped with the Gold
Coat Ceremony last month, thank you all (too
many to name) for making it such a huge success.
You made the Lodge shine, and I know Joe and
Bobbi were very proud and grateful for
everything.
I look forward to seeing you around the
Lodge. Fraternally, Larry

W. O. T. M. CHAPTER #2150
In keeping with the “Butterfly Theme” for the
year, I’ve been thinking about “change” again
this month. Several mornings here lately I’ve
gotten up to go to work and it’s been downright
COLD! Seems change is literally “in the air”. Soon we will be
going back to Standard Time and our “daylight hours” will be noticeably
shorter. This year the time “falls back” on Sunday, Nov.1st –don’t forget!
All our football fans already seem to be happy with change to the fall TV
schedule. Now they are able to watch and wager on their favorite teams
(by the way that is happening already at the Lodge).
Usually when we are approaching the fall weather, people start
getting ready for all the upcoming holidays. The first “celebration” this
October, will be a Birthday Party. The Lodge will be 19 years old on Oc-
tober 12th and we will have a party on Saturday, October 10th. The day
will start with a free pancake breakfast. This will be open to the public.
Tell your friends and neighbors to come on down and have breakfast on
us. Who knows, maybe they will want to join us. This will be a good
chance to get to know some in our community and let them get to know us
(the Moose) and what we do. The day will finish up with a Blue and Gold
Dinner & Karaoke…let’s try to have some new members from the morn-
ing! Come celebrate the beginning of our 20th year!
In October, the WOTM from everywhere celebrate “Christmas in
October”. This is to help provide our children at Mooseheart and our
seniors at Moosehaven with a nice Christmas. Fernley, Chapter 2150 will
be doing our Christmas in October on Saturday, Oct. 17th. Tamara
Hargis and her committee will be providing supper that night plus a few
“Christmas Surprises”! Please come and participate in this endeavor with
our chapter. I think you will be glad you did!
Of course, when we even say the word OCTOBER, everyone
thinks of Halloween. This year the women are going to try something dif-
ferent (thought we needed a little CHANGE). On Saturday, October 31st
starting at 2:00 pm, we will be doing a “Trunk or Treat” for the children
in our community. The children will be able to trick or treat in our back
parking lot. We will provide bags for the kids (with a few “Moose
pamphlets” included) to collect their goodies in. If you buy candy
or make things to hand out to the neighborhood kids on Halloween
evening, plan on doing it at the Lodge this year from the trunk of
your car.

PLANNED ACTIVITIES
It happened again, it’s Fall. ¾ of 2015 is gone.
How time flies when we are having fun. That is
what we are about at the Moose Lodge but you
will never know if you don’t come down to the
social quarters and join the fun. We have a lot
going on this month beginning with the Sunday Breakfast every week and
our Monday night football with some tailgate food and of course King of
Clubs with the 6:00 pm drawing, you can’t win if you don’t play.
Speaking of Football we a couple boards you can get on and there is
always a chance to win some extra beer money.
Beginning on the 7th we will start another cribbage tournament lasting
8 weeks and it will start at 7:00pm. There is a sign- up sheet on the west
wall in the social quarters you can sign up to play or to be a substitute
player.
There will be food on Friday evenings with a new member orientation on
the 23rd at approximately 6pm with any new member attending they will
get dinner free. This is an informative orientation and you will learn more
of what the Moose Lodge is all about.
There will be a dinner every Saturday this month, also we will have an
Open House Breakfast on the 10th starting at 8:00am for the public to
come in and learn about the Moose. Invite your Friends and their friends
to have a free breakfast. We will also be celebrating our 19th Birthday with
dinner and Karaoke afterwards, sounds like a great day of fun,
The 17th the Gals will be doing dinner and their annual Christmas in Oc-
tober. This is always a lot of fun.
The 24th is a big fund raiser for our Delegates to go to the International
Convention. Folks we are mandated to attend these convention. This will
be a Rib Eye Steak Dinner with all the fixins. You must sign up! There is
a sign-up sheet on the west wall of the social quarters, only those who sign
up will be eating.
We will be celebrating Halloween on the 31st with the kids Trunk or Treat
party from 2pm till 4pm . There will be an adult party that evening. This
is a great time to bring a guest down and see the fun we have at the Moose
Lodge and you might get a new member .
Please come down and visit with some old friends and meet some new
friends, we are still the friendliest place to go for a relaxing evening in
Fernley.

Continued from Page 4
We will have cars “lining” our back parking lot, with the trunks
facing toward the center. The trunks will be opened and decorated if you
like (just like you would do your porch). Each trunk will have adults (in
costume if you’d like) handing out treats to our kids. We will have a
signup sheet on the bulletin board, if you would like to participate. We
hope this will be another way to get our name out to our community as an
organization that is more than just another bar down the street. This is a
way we can affect CHANGE in people’s perception of us. Let’s give it a
real effort!
Halloween doesn’t end with the kids in the afternoon—it will con-
tinue that night with a costume party for our adults. Make sure you don’t
miss this night! It’s so much fun when we adults forget about our age and
laugh and play like we did when we were kids. Come down and experi-
ence the fun with us.
I like the changes that come when the weather starts getting
colder. In October, we can become kids again. Then in November we are
reminded of family and our many blessings! December turns our hearts
and minds toward our Spiritual side as we celebrate the birth of our Sav-
ior during the Christmas Season. Then January brings in a whole new
year to continue this wonderful journey of change.
I hope all of you are excited about the upcoming months. Don’t
forget to include Fernley Moose Lodge in your plans.
Looking forward to our exciting changes,
Shelah

The Blue & Gold Corner
The Blue & Gold will be meeting on the 10th at
3:30 pm and will be serving dinner afterwards. Roast Pork, mashed
potatoes, gravy, veggies, roll and salad/desert. Also there will be
Karaoke after dinner.
Again I want to thank all the members who helped Pilgrim Gary with the
dinner last month.
We will be celebrating our 19th birthday so there will be a birthday cake
here for desert. Thanks again for all the support you give our Lodge it
takes all of us to make it work.

THIS MONTH’S THANK
YOU PAGE
Thanks to everyone who has contributed to our monthly
newsletter which won the Associations first place spot for
the fourth straight year in a row. The class is based on the
number of members in the lodge. In our case (C) that’s up
to 200 members. We now proudly display six of these on our
west wall in the Social Quarters.
