Arts & Craft Show General “Co-
Chairs” Needed
It’s time to start planning for our 2019 Arts & Craft Show. In the past, there has been one General Chairperson and multiple chairpersons over each area.
As we move forward, would like to have “co-chairs” so that we can lighten the load on our volunteers.
If you are interested in
taking one of the roles or becoming active with
other areas of the plan-ning, please contact
Martha Alle at 812-768-5810 or antmartha@aol.

New Year Brings New Beginnings
As we look back on last year and all that
we have accomplished; the
SIAM building looked great for the holidays. Thank you to everyone who helped. The new
year brings more things for our clubs to share with each other.
I leave you with this message for 2019:

year is here,
another year to live!
To banish worry,
doubt, and fear,
to love, laugh and

This bright new
year is given me,
to live each day
with zest!
To daily grow and
try to be

to pray for peace,
to plant a tree,

ANNUAL EXTENSION MEETING
Monday, February 4th at Central Library. We are asking for some delicious desserts from our very own Extension Homemakers!
Please bring your dessert to the Extension Office before 4:30 that day or to the meeting. Thank you
so much!
VOLUNTEER COMMUNI-TY SUPPORT REPORT FORM DUE MARCH 1
It’s hard to believe that we are
starting to wrap up the current year.
Each club needs to complete their
Volunteer Community Support Re-
port and submit it by March 1,
2019. The information will then be
compiled into one report of activity
for all of Vanderburgh County and
shared with homemakers
statewide. Please include all com-
munity support that you have given,
not just what is listed on the form.
We want to acknowledge all your
work and dedication! Use addition-
al paper if you need to and feel free
to submit photos and a narrative of
your work. You may have done
something that inspires others.
CONSTITUTION AND BYLAW REVIEW
We encourage each club to re-view our current constitution and by-laws. Please submit any recommen-
dations to Jean Hitchcock at [email protected] before
February 28, 2019. Her committee will be proposing changes at the April Council meeting. This would also be
a good time to look at your own club’s bylaws to see if you need any
updates as well!

This month… Let’s “Bee Involved”…
February is a time for new be-ginnings. Consider something
that you have wanted to try but were afraid to or just never made the time. Have the con-fidence to take the chance or to make the time or effort. As they say, the first step is al-ways the hardest. Take that step and maybe by next De-cember, you will be running.
FIRST TIMER’S AWARD APPLICATION
DEADLINE Each year the IEHA awards a $150 scholarship to one person from each district attending the Home and Family Conference for the first time. This year’s conference will be held June 3-5 at the Wyndham Indianapolis West. Anyone interested in ap-plying needs to complete the attached application form and send it to County President Martha Alle by February 5, 2019. The Executive Committee will select an applicant and sub-mit to our District Representa-tive for consideration. If you have questions, please contact Martha.
NEW!! YOUNG HOME-
MAKERS COMMITTEE The IEHA is always looking for members to take the next step beyond their local club and vol-unteering to work with others from across the state as a mem-ber of a Focus Group or an Activi-ty Committee. Currently, mem-bers can participate in Focus Groups on Leadership, Education, Volunteer Community Support and Public Relations. The Activity Committees include Membership, Marketing and Logo, Cultural Arts and Heritage Skills and Silent Auction. This year they are adding a new committee called the Young Homemakers Committee. It is for homemakers who are young or “young at heart” and want to embrace the challenge of what IEHA can do to attract and retain younger members. Focus Groups and Committees meet in October and February. Signups will be at the Spring Dis-trict Meeting. If you have ques-tions, contact IEHA President Elect Anne Moore at 812-350-1072 or [email protected]
WALK WITH US ON APRIL 29, 2019
Mark your calendars for April 29, 2019 as Vanderburgh
County participates in Women Walk the World. The aim of
the event is to raise awareness of the Associated Country
Women of the World’s work, promote the organization and raise funds. This money goes to further develop the aim of raising the standard of living
for rural women and their families through education, training and community de-velopment programs, sup-
porting educational opportu-nities for women and girls and
help eliminate gender dis-crimination. A flyer will be
released in early February with more details.
CANCELLATION POLICY We are entering that time of year
when we don’t know what the weather will be like from day to day. We follow the EVSC. If school is canceled, so are all
Homemaker events. If you are ever unsure, call the office. They will know the status of all events.

Theme Set for Achievement
Banquet
The Achievement Ban-quet Committee has met and named the theme for this year’s banquet. It will be “We’ve Achieved Sew Much”. Mark your calen-dar for Thursday May 2
nd.
We will have a display ar-ea called “Sew this hap-pened…” where each club will be asked to sub-mit a picture of something from their club year and a short narrative to go along with it. I could be a com-munity service project, a lesson, a celebration. It’s up to you what you share. Also, don’t forget to finish up your club’s 12x12 quilt block.

January 2019 4-H Friends and Families: Approximately 40 4-H members in Vanderburgh County participate in the Dog Project and are members of the Dog Club each year. In an effort to improve the experience for the 4-H members and families, we have identified an opportunity and we need your help. The area used for dog agility has moved to a new location at the Vanderburgh 4-H Center. In order to provide a safe and usable area for the youth and their dogs, we are needing to invest in supplies and equipment to complete the new area. To accomplish this goal, we are seeking donations. To create a safe, usable area for participants, $8,100 is needed to purchase a storage shed, run electricity to the site, and purchase agility supplies. Please consider helping our fundraising and assist us in helping the 4-H Dog Club. Sponsors will be announced at 4-H dog shows and a sign will be displayed with sponsors and donation levels listed in the dog agility area. Donation Levels:
Bronze $0 - $99 Silver $100 - $499 Gold $500 - $999 Diamond $1000 and up
