LEE COUNTY SCHOOLS
October 12, 2015
We would like to give a special congratulations to Julee Snyder, Speech-Language
Pathologist, for being selected as the 2015 Teacher of Excellence from Lee County
Schools! “Julee is the greatest person ever! Her compassion and dedication is un-
matched. She is a great advocate for our students, she is wonderful with children,
teachers, and parents. Even with all the experience that I have, I look to her for
mentoring, advice, and modeling. If there was ever a person God wanted to work
with students with disabilities, His chosen one is Julee Snyder.”

Why: Benefits our children and our school!!
The more volunteer hours we receive the more funds we receive from
the Thrift Store for our classrooms. Please make sure when you are
signing in that you sign under the Floyd Knight page. When your
child's classroom reaches 12 hours the class will receive an incen-
tive. The money may be used for a party, classroom materials, or to
offset the cost of a field trip. Please consider spending an hour or
two this year. You can volunteer though June.
Thanks for your support!!

dergarten students, Jaden, Lucas, Noah,
Kaiden, Mady, and Emily! You are all
welcome additions to our elementary
classes!!! Our teachers have been very
busy learning our new curriculum and
implementing it in their classrooms. Our
first unit taught us all about our school
and the people who work there. The next
unit is Animals in Their Homes. Looking
ahead, we have a field trip tentatively
planned for Gross Farms on October 22.
Please be on the lookout for more infor-
mation about this trip coming soon.
The students in elementary room 114
have been busy this past month. They
are learning the alphabet, numbers 1-10
and doing activities about their family,
farm animals, apples and all about
me. Everyone is getting use to the class-
room routine and working hard. We have
had an amazing start to the new school
year! We want to welcome our new kin-
The preschoolers in Mrs. Best’s class have
had a busy first month of school. We have
been learning classroom rules and routines,
getting to know new friends, and learning
how to use school tools. Our writing center
has been a popular spot in our classroom.
We took our first field trip of the school
year to the Regional Lee County Fair where
we saw story tellers perform, visited farm
animals and rode some exciting rides.
We’ve been learning “All About Me” in
recent weeks, and fun activities have in-
cluded tasting salty, sweet, bitter, and sour
foods, creating skeleton chalk drawings,
and finger painting pictures of ourselves.
Safety and Stranger Danger. Special
visitors have been Lee County EMS
(ambulance) and Officer Meghan Turn-
mire. We will take a field trip to Fire
Station #2 to take a tour of the facili-
ties, learn about fire prevention from
real firefighters and see them in their
full uniform.
The Middle School has been learning
about Emergency Response for the
month of September. We have learned
about Bus Safety and how to enter and
exit the bus safely. We have also prac-
ticed how to evacuate the bus during an
emergency. Our students have learned
what is a real emergency and when to
call 911. We will also cover Fire
We are having a great time in Room 117! So far we have learned so much throughout the month
of September. The students learned all about themselves and discovered common connections
they had among their classmates! During the month of September, we learned about our 5 senses,
our body, our families, and how to be a great friend. The children had a lot of fun with the many
activities we did throughout the month. They even learned to recognize and identify their own
name, as well as, some of their friends! On top of our theme of the month, the students were able
to get into a classroom routine throughout the day and use their social skills to make friends by
sharing, playing, and taking turns with other students. It's been a great start to the Preschool year!
