Chess Club – Library
Learn chess openings and tactics
and play against students from all
year groups. Coached by Miss
Sparrowhawk; players of all years
and abilities welcome.
Quiet study area – Library
Many students require a quiet area
with resources to complete
homework or extra study. The
library is open and staffed by Miss
Sparrowhawk throughout the day
and after school and contains plenty
of computers.
Computer room
Room 1-21 is staffed by Miss Scully
and is a space where students can use
computers for research purposes, to
complete homework or simply to
pursue hobbies and interests.

Mumford and Sons Extra-
Curricular Music Programme
The well-known rock and country band, Mumford and
Sons, have sponsored an extra-curricular music
programme for all years 7, 8 and 9 students who are
interested in pursuing music as a hobby or future career.
Each participating student will be able to choose from
Music Club
Taking up an instrument is a great
way to add something fun and
rewarding to school life. We have a
range of lessons available and at
lunch students can practise on
their own and with other students
with the help of staff Miss Ahmed
and Mr Marshall.
Debate Club
Debate is a formal contest of
argumentation between two
teams or individuals. Ms
Keville works with students
develop their verbal or
performance skills and learn
how to argue and tolerate
points of view with rigorous
self-examination.
Languages – French & Spanish
Vocab
Fun language quizzes taken as part
of a group to help students grow
their linguistic skills in French and
Spanish. This is run by the MFL
department.

Year 7 Rugby
Many students learn rugby for the
first time at APA. Training takes
place every week with Mr Hayden.
Working on skills, tactics and
fitness.
Girls Netball
Students develop shooting, passing
and footwork skills with Miss
Bingham and have the opportunity
to play for the school team in South
London Netball League,
Wandsworth and ARK schools’
competitions.
Science Club
Students should come along to
the Science department and
experience experiments and
investigations, which will help
improve their grades and science
knowledge.
DT Club
Mr Tomkinson supports students in allowing them to be as creative as they desire. Students will experiment with and use as wide a range of materials and processes as possible to design and manufacture projects of their own choice and at their own pace, as we value quality before quantity.
Foreign Languages Club
Across the term, we will watch 4
films and see how much we can
learn from them. We will then
design a quiz/game to test our
movie trivia to be played once the
movie is finished.
Drama Club
Students audition to be selected for
annual Shakespeare schools’ festival.
Hours of dedicated rehearsal precede
a production held at a professional
theatre with a large audience. Led by
Miss Martin.

the school team in Wandsworth
and ARK School’s competitions.

Students at APA enjoy maths and KS3
maths homework support very is popular.
Students work with the maths department
to improve their maths skills in order to
achieve that crucial grade 5.
Girls football
Girls’ football is popular at APA.
Training takes place every week with
Mr Sheehan. We have been borough
champions at u13 and u15 for the last
2 years and finished in the top 32 of
the national competition last year.
This year we will be competing in
various competitions throughout the
year.

Players of all years and abilities
welcome. Students can also play
other board games with peers.
Mystery Series Club
Students will be involved in a
mystery television-style series
where they will be performing
episodes for their peers. Each
episode will be 5-10 minutes
and will be available to watch
every two weeks, allowing
students time to rehearse.

Coding Coding is a new form of computer Science. In these sessions students learn how to produce and alter computer programs. It is a great skill for young people entering a digital world. Our session is run by a specialist from the coding industry and Mr Canning.
Into Film Media Club
With a range of incentives,
materials, competitions and
rewards, Into Film Club provides
an exciting, safe and comfortable
environment for young people to
grow, gain confidence, enjoy
school more and better engage
with the curriculum. Led by Ms
Harris.
Anime Club
This club is for anyone who fancies
learning more about anime,
reviewing anime as well as designing
your own anime comic strip.
Italian Club
Students will be introduced to the Italian language through some games to learn Italian words and how to introduce themselves in Italian.

Origami Club
Join Miss Issa to design and
create traditional Japanese
paper crafts. Students enjoy
being able to be creative and
this club is suitable for
everyone.
Dungeons & Dragons Club
Dungeons and Dragons is a fantasy
role playing game where a group of 3-
8 players sit around a table and go on
an adventure. The game encourages
role playing, problem solving,
communication, team work, and
maths skills. Each player has their
own character sheet which they use to
represent their character. This game
creates strong bonds between people,
boosts self-confidence and creativity.
