Objectives/background
• During a research and development projectin Argentina, the operator required analysisof well data on a fracking operation in orderto measure performance, and ultimatelyenable cost savings through operationaloptimisation and reduction in Non-Productive Time (NPT)
• Data from previous wells was deemedinaccurate, so the operator required asolution to enable more comprehensivereal-time data analysis
Expro Excellence
• Expro’s ABP system successfullydemonstrated that constant pressure couldbe held on the well, whilst analysing andlogging pressure and fluid properties beingpumped into and out of the well
• The package was tailored to the clientmeasuring data into and out of the well byproviding two custom Coriolis flow metermanifolds that integrated into the ABPsystem and measured the specific flowrates and fluids, which enabled real-timedata analysis
• National Argentinian crews were trained tooperate the equipment package and on theABP functionality and system features
Value to client• A constant pressure on the well was held
successfully, enabling constant and desiredpressure within ±10psi with low rates of 1 –3.5 bpm and high pressures of up to4,500psi well head pressure
• The operator was able to analyse the datareceived from the ABP system to adjustfrac parameters, comparing the past datato and enable efficiencies and improvedoperational performance
• All data was integrated and captured onscreen allowing real-time analysis, whilstbeing logged for instant distribution toremote locations
• The pressures held were up to 10 timeshigher than any operation undertaken todate. The system invariably holds 100-800psi in MPD applications
• Building on the strong operational record ofthe ABP in USA and Canada, this project inArgentina was a success and the operatorwill perform the same operation on furtherwells worldwide
