Press clarification made byPRO of the ManipurLegislative Assembly inconnection with the ImphalTimes news report publishedon June 9, 2019 issue underthe caption “Caught inCamera: Bihar MLAs enjoysexy dance with local girls inIndo-Myanmar border town”terming it as misleading andattempt to tarnish the imageof the visiting VIPs as well asManipur LegislativeAssembly is unfortunate asthe Imphal Times was onlydelivering its duty.In the statement by the PROit is stated that “……. Thepersons shown as MLAs ofBihar Assembly are neitherMLAs nor officials of BiharLegisla tive Assembly whovisited the state from 31stMay to 3rd June 2019 onofficial tour”. This statementis confusing the generalpublic as this newspaperhave evidences of all thepeople shown on videoposing for an official photosession at the ManipurLegislative Assembly house.Above all the BiharLegislative Assembly alsoconfirmed that the officialteam of the Committee onInternal Resource and CentralAssistance did v isit theManipur LegislativeAssembly. The Speaker ofBihar Legislative Assembly,Vijay Kumar Chaudhary hadalso issued a show causenotice to all the members ofthe committee who areinvolved in the incident. In terestingly, instead of

conducting a probe over thereported news, the Secretaryof the Manipur LegislativeAssembly in a letter sent toEditor, Imphal Times, alsocoined the word “misleadingnews” without conductingany shor t of enquiry andorder to explain Imphal Timesposition regarding the newsitem within “24 hours” .Which law of the countrypermits a Secretary of theState Assembly to summoneditor of a newspaper whichis registered under theRegistrar for Newspaper ofIndia, is a matter which thisnewspaper fails tounderstand. Had it been fromthe Speaker or f rom theprivilege Committee, then thisnewspaper would honour .As for the Imphal Times, thereport was published onSunday ,9th June,2019 aftermaintain ing h ighprofessional standards andverification of correctness Itis free f rom misleading ,distortion and confusion. Now, if the Manipur StateAssembly said that those inthe video are neither MLAsnor off icials of BiharLegislative Assembly thenthe PRO should clarify thepeople about the identities ofthe Committee membersentering the State AssemblyHouse and pose for officialphoto session. If in case thepeople in the photo are notthe members of the committeeor not related with the studytour then the PRO shouldclarify under which rules ofthe State Assembly , doespersons not related areallowed to enter the temple ofdemocracy.

When the PRO of theManipur LegislativeAssembly has been tryinghard to protect the people inthe v ideo JD(U) MLARajkumar Rai, one among themember has suspended his PAafter getting the news report. In message sent to Republic

TV by MLA Rajkumar Raireads, “As soon I got to knowthat my PA was involved in theactivity I have given in writtento suspend him withimmediate effect”.From the action of the BiharLegislative Assembly it isnow clear that those are the

team of the Bihar MLAsshown in the picture. TheImphal Times also standswith the report of MLAsbeing present when thedancing took place. On that day, that is June 2,2019, some of the committeemembers visited that Hotel

and some civil dress localpersons (secur ity) alsoaccompanied them.Following the news report ofofficial visitors dancing inhotel room in MayanmarBorder town, MayanmarPolice had g iven v erb alinstruction to all the hotelru nner s to pr ohib itcustomers or tour ist fromtaking video inside the hotelroom. In the news report publishedby Imphal Times under theheading Caught in Camera:Bihar MLAs enjoy sexy

There was strongresistance and even public

protests against the legalproceedings f rom thecommunity of the accused, which shocked the nation. Theapex court had to move thecase out of the state becauselawyers in Kathua preventedCrime Branch officials fromfiling a charge sheet in thesensational case. That is whythis initial victory comes as arelief to all justice lovingpeople. At the same time wehave to be alert that there canstill be further attempts tosabotage the justice and morerelen tless battle will berequired to retain it.
