Evaluation 7 - Looking back at your preliminary task, what do
you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full
product?Since the preliminary coursework of the college magazine
creation I have learnt many new skills and techniques. There is a
huge difference between the quality of the preliminary coursework
and this coursework as in the preliminary I did was not experienced
enough to show my full potential, but due to experience I was able
to create a professional magazine. I am more knowledgeable in the
software Adobe Photoshop. For example, in the preliminary task I
wanted to remove the background on an image I did this by colouring
it in with a paint brush which took a lot of time and effort, but
now I used a special tool called lasso tool which lets you select
what parts you want removed with a smoother finish. But in other
aspects of the coursework I was always experienced such as using
the presentation Powtoon or Prezi as I have used these presentation
softwares in other subjects which helped me, but comparing the
software I used in the preliminary task to the music magazine was
basic as I only used PowerPoint and Microsoft word but in this
coursework I used a wide variety of software. Also the preliminary
task improved my knowledge of what conventions a magazine needs to
be good, so when it came to the creation of the music magazine I
used all the important conventions such as cover lines, pugs, main
image etc. Furthermore, the preliminary helped me understand how to
appeal to a niche market and what techniques to use to target a
specific target audience such as using something simple as a piece
of clothing (Mise en scene) to appeal to a particular social
class.
For the music magazine I gained knowledge that the main image
for a hip hop genre wouldnt need a background.In the preliminary
task I learnt that I needed a consistent colour scheme and a main

I learnt that the mast head should be included onto the contents
page and should follow the consistent colour scheme.For the music
magazine I gained knowledge that the mast head should be shown as
