DESTRESS:DemonstraFonofsoYsFmulaFontreatmentsofgeothermalreservoirs-demonstratesmethodsofenhancedgeothermalsystems(EGS).TheaimistoexpandknowledgeandtoprovidesoluQonsforamoreeconomical,sustainableandenvironmentallyresponsibleexploitaFonofundergroundheat.EGSsallowtheenormousuntappedpotenQalofgeothermalenergytobeputtowidespreaduse.DESTRESSwillimprovetheunderstandingoftechnological,businessandsocietalopportuniQesandrisksrelatedtogeothermalenergy.ExisQngandnewprojectsiteshavebeenchosentodemonstratetheDESTRESSconcept.
EoCoE:EnergyorientedCentreofExcellenceforcomputerapplicaFons-TheEoCoEincompuQngapplicaQonsusesthetremendouspotenQalofferedbytheever-growingcompuQnginfrastructuretofosterandacceleratetheEuropeantransiQontoareliablelowcarbonenergysupplyusingHPC(HighPerformanceCompuQng).Theprojecthasadedicatedtaskongeothermalenergyprovision.
GEMex:GeothermalCooperaFonEuropeMexicoforEGSandsuper-hotgeothermalsystems-TheprojectisacomplementaryeffortofaEuropeanconsorQumwithacorrespondingconsorQumfromMexico,whosubmigedanequivalentproposalforcooperaQon:CofinancingHorizon2020and(Conacyt).Thejointeffortisbasedonthreepillars:1.ResourceassessmentattwounconvenQonalgeothermalsites.2.ReservoircharacterizaQonusingtechniquesandapproachesdevelopedatconvenQonalgeothermalsites.3.Conceptsforsitedevelopment.

GeoWell:InnovaFvematerialsanddesignsforlong-lifehigh-temperaturegeothermalwells-Newconceptsforhigh-temperaturegeothermalwelltechnologiesarestronglyneededtoacceleratethedevelopmentofgeothermalresourcesforpowergeneraQoninEuropeandworldwideinacosteffecQveandenvironmentallyfriendlyway.TheGeoWellprojectwilladdressthemajorbogleneckslikehighinvestmentandmaintenancecostsbydevelopinginnovaQvematerialsanddesignsthataresuperiortothestateoftheartconcepts

SURE:NovelProducFvityEnhancementConceptforaSustainableUFlizaFonofaGeothermalResource-WithintheECfundedHorizon2020projectSUREtheradialwaterjetdrilling(RJD)technologywillbeinvesQgatedandtestedasamethodtoincreaseinflowintoinsufficientlyproducinggeothermalwells.
ThermoDrill:FasttrackinnovaFvedrillingsystemfordeepgeothermalchallengesinEurope-IntheThermoDrillproject,aninterdisciplinaryteamofresearchinsQtuQonsandindustrialpartnersfromacrossEuropehavejoinedforcestoinnovatedeepgeothermaldrillingbycombiningprovenandcost-effecQvetechnologiesintoacompletelynewprocess.TheuniquefeatureofthenewconceptisthatpenetraQonisachievedbyahighpressurefluidjetwhichsupportsconvenQonalrotarydrillingbybreakingthestressinfrontofthebittoincreasebitperformance.ThiscombinaQonoffluidjerngandrotarydrillingisexpectedtoatleastdoubletherateofpenetraQon.
