The Primer Space in Nature
To have a garden which fits together a slight theme should be in place our team has selected such a
theme and it is Japanese Private Family backyard Garden
With this in mind we begun looking for the element we though could fit this theme correctly.
8/9/2019 Eric Kenny Nazifah Zhiyong Mack Primer 1
29/38
Recommendation
The recommended design would be the Patio as
the theme of our primer would be a family-private
Japanese style garden. The most important reason why the Patio was
chosen is because we can use our ENSP recycle
chairs and table as ornaments in the patio
design. It is not only eco-friendly, helps to save
money and also helps to make our whole garden
landscape design unique and different fromothers.

30/38
Recommendation
The recommended water feature is the waterfall.
However it is proposed that the water basin at
the base of the waterfall is extended into a pond ,so as to further beautify the garden and act as
another factor which helps us relax or a play
area for children.
Water Element
8/9/2019 Eric Kenny Nazifah Zhiyong Mack Primer 1
31/38
Recommendation
The recommended structure is the Trellis. As it
can provide a place for relaxation and by mixing
softscape and hardscape it is a unique naturalfeeling into it. In addition as our primer is based
on a family-private Japanese style garden ,
although the trellis is more of a western structure
we could make one out of bamboo giving it a
moreAsian feel to it.
Shelter

32/38
Recommendation
The colorful shrubs would the recommend choice
as most shrubs are ever green and are within the
acceptable heights of the garden. Not to mentionit would attract less insects compared to the
flowering plants and lowers the risk of hay fever

As we leave the house and enter the garden, we pass under a bamboo-made
trellis.A shelter that is combined of both hard and soft scape .It beautify the
surrounding by mixing physical elements and plants well. After stepping out of
the trellis, we would continue down a path along which assorted colorful
shrubs and plants are planted. soon the path would split one would be a short
cut to the end of the path ,which cuts across a pond. while the other path led
deeper into the garden where different type of shrubs, groundcovers, palms,
creepers and trees. They are arrange by coarse texture to fine texture to
provide visual pleasure. Towards the end of the pathway, there will be an open
space in the garden designed as a patio. In the patio there are tables and
chairs inside it to rest and enjoy the beautiful surrounding. Behind this setting
stands a large group of shrubs acting as a wind barrier to block on coming
strong winds and turn it into a breeze..continuing the path more colorful foliage
would be seen. soon the path would once again merge with the shortcut
earlier.A while more and the cycle would be complete with us back to the
bamboo trellis.

Additional Recommendation
Our team also recommend the use ofVersiTank a
storm water management tank. It can
1) Filter waste water2) Integrate storm water treatment into landscape
3) Protect water quality
4) Add value while minimizing development cost.

SummaryIn this assignment I learn more about team work and work together as a team. We
distribute the assignment evenly and did our individual part. We also need to use theskills and knowledge of the we learn from the 4 modules Landscape Design Studio I
module, Plants and Landscape Technology module, History and Theory of
Landscape Design I module and the Environmental System and Process module.
The aim is to increase the creativity of the students, develop the sketching skills,
using the knowledge of the orthographic drawings, and apply the knowledge of the
principle of design and let us understanding on the principles of space,
anthropometrics and ergonomics.
