Expanding Their Reach
Alfred, a Kenyan, and other disciples of Christ with him,
continue to find families who have not heard of Jesus. As
he returns home or visits a town, he sends us photos and
updates, such as, “This is the team that committed their
time for three days and a total of 61 souls came to faith!”
They then baptized them in the closest river.
Another exciting note from
him was, “This team are
inspired by God and have committed give each one
hen to offer those who don't have in this church!”
This note reminds me of Acts 2:44–47, where we
read that those who believed were sharing what
they had with others in need, having communion,
showing singleness of heart, and praising God.
Last month Alfred emailed another
note. “Praise God! 56 house churches,
78 [people] active in motion and more
pioneering new fields is motto.” The
movement is even self-supporting, as
believers give out of the little they have
to enable long treks to new locations in
Kenya and Uganda.
These are the committed Christ-followers we love to
train, coach, and equip as they go places we will never
see, to find those who will trust in Jesus as Savior and
become His disciples. With your support of me, we are
able to do this. My trip this month to Kenya will be
another opportunity this year to meet with Alfred and
others with him. I am going to Kenya with a team from
Gateway Community Church in Wylie, Texas, and
during this visit we will provide donated cell phones for
the national leaders. Gateway will also provide a motor-
bike that will enable Alfred to cover more distance
faster as he goes further away from home on evangelism journeys in new areas.

Your donation at www.eastwest.org/GlahnDonate will enable me to travel to Africa regularly, as I manage
projects of physical aid, and assist nationals to do evangelism, discipleship, and church planting.
Equipping and Providing
“Now I commend to you our sister Phoebe, who is a deacon of the church in
Cenchrea, so that you may welcome her in the Lord in a way worthy of the saints
and provide her with whatever help she may need from you,” (Romans 16:1)
Women of Faith
As we read biblical accounts of Paul
praising and giving greetings to the
women who have been serving with
him in evangelism and discipleship,
we are receiving notes from Alfred
about the men and women who are
active in ministry. Women are wel-
comed and acknowledged as part-
ners with men to do what is needed
to advance the church. One note
states, “77years old mother is the
person of peace and has offered
her home for the training beginning
tomorrow!”
In a culture where women in de-
nominational churches are restrict-
ed in their service, he writes about
some women, “Praise God! These
are very courageous to conduct
baptism!”
Below is a woman who has identi-
fied and mapped the new fields she
desires to enter to share Christ and
establish churches.
Glahn Family Life
Sandi will defend her dissertation on the day I leave for Kenya. What an ordeal! “Dr. Glahn” sounds nice. My father took my brother and me on a trip through the National Parks and Monuments of Utah in April. A great bonding experience (really!).
Alexandra sang a solo in the church talent show. Her ability to sing did not surprise us, but we were amazed our shy girl did it in front of people!

Grateful Children and Parents
I direct the Adopt-a-Legacy at-risk child sponsorship pro-
gram in Kitale, Kenya. Receiving the package of letters
from the children to forward to their sponsors is a highlight.
Below are portions of a few of them:
A seventh-grade orphan girl writes, “My hope for a better
future had been shaken, but now I thank God who touched
you to touch my heart which had a lot of pains. Thank you
for giving me a shoulder to lean on. I now have every rea-
son to smile.”
A high school orphan boy exclaims,
“May the Almighty God bless you and add to you. Father,
you have given me hope to keep me rolling with life.”
A high-school girl tells her sponsors, “Mom and dad, my
ambition is to become an international journalist. I am the
luckiest girl in the world to have such good, caring, and
passionate and loving parents.”
A father, who is a pastor, writes,
“You have given her a chance to
learn in one of the best schools in
the town. Before we eat and sleep, we lift you before the
Lord to always guide you and strengthen you physically
and spiritually.” To another sponsor he writes, “In spite of
not having seen you personally, your hand that is stretched
to us through food and meat has touched our hearts im-
mensely.”
A mother writes, “The health of
my children was once poor but now I see great improve-
ment just because of your support in food and meat.”
Another child expresses the lasting benefits of sponsorship
in her letter. “You are the person I will never forget, even
if I forget my very own name. I will make great efforts that
I also support the vulnerable children as thanksgiving to
Almighty God Who has really showered me with blessing
upon my life through you.”
Thank you for your support of me, which helps make these stories possible.
