Cavity within double skin facade becomes equalized pressure ring
Air is exhausted through centralized points
Direct ventilation of facade in summer

This thesis proposes that the segmentof I-5 that runs along Portland Oregon’sWillamette River is there for the foreseeablefuture so we as humans needto find ways to modify what we createand to reclaim space beneath the soaringroadways of I-5.
I am proposing a science education resource center for Oregon teachers on current parking 50 feet below I-5 and directly adjacent to the Oregon Museum of Science & Industry.
It will greatly expand upon theircurrent continuing education programsand architecturally debunk the idea thatbuilding around our own infrastructure isan effective way to create denser urbancores disrupted by elevated freeways
