E.V.S can’t be taught in isolation, what is learnt in school has to be reinforced at home. Parents can do this in simple ways, whether at home, at the beach, at the supermarket, park, exhibition, zoo etc.
Learning by Doing
Different fruits and vegetables can be identified while at the supermarket.
Eating healthy food and saying no to junk food like candy, aerated drinks can be emphasized.
Values like- standing in the line at the cash counters and waiting for your turn can be emphasized.
Community helpers like sales staff, packers, cleaners etc, can be identified.
Encourage children to draw or collect pictures for home assignments using old magazines and newspapers. Models can also be made at home using scraps.
Reading books to the children and telling them stories, audio and visual aids. Eg- Discovery channel, National Geographic, ZQ.
