Sport Exercise and Fitness
ZumbaJoin in with the ever-popular Zumba. This dance exercise class combines
traditional Latin rhythms and popular dance steps – it’s lively, addictive and great fun! Using some of the most up to date dance music, your instructor will
put you through your paces, and whilst the emphasis is definitely on having a good time, this is a great way to dance yourself to fitness. Anyone can do Zumba, particularly if you’re a reluctant exerciser – you won’t even feel as

Ladies Football Are you the next Kelly Smith? Even if you’re not, come along to the girl’s football sessions, improve your skills and have fun while you’re at it! There are opportunities to play competitive games throughout the year, representing the college regionally. Wednesdays, 3.25pm - 4.30pm

BasketballBasketball is another fast-growing game at Bexhill College. Join in these sessions to get a slice of the action! The college coach is on hand to provide skill development and tips for those that want it, while plenty of game time is guaranteed. If you just like shooting some hoops, then these sessions are for you. Students will also be given the opportunity to set up a cross-college league, to provide more structured competition if you want it.Wednesdays, 3.25pm - 4.30pm
CricketEnjoy playing cricket? Good, then come along to some sessions at Bexhill
College! Run by qualified coaches, these sessions are often combined with the college academy sessions, and use the good college net facilities, as well as various other drills and indoor games. This is an excellent way to develop
your skills, or to return to a game you may not have played for a while. As the weather improves and the summer beckons, we venture outside. Students will be given the opportunity to set up a cross-college indoor six-a-side league, to
provide more competition for those that want it.Fridays, 4.30pm - 6.00pm
5 A Side FootballThis is an easy way to play some football at college, without the prep and commitment required for 11-a-side competition. Students have the opportunity to join up with college squads in the game’s full format if they wish. Elements of Futsal are introduced to these relaxed sessions, where the emphasis is on turning up, having a game and a laugh. Participants can form teams in sessions, but students have the opportunity to set up a league creating set teams, weekly fixtures and an ultimate winner for the year!Wednesdays, 3.25pm - 4.30pm

BadmintonBadminton sessions at Bexhill College provide something for all experience
levels. If you are new to the sport, you’ll pick up the basic skills and shots, while becoming familiar with the rules of both singles and doubles play. Current
badminton players are encouraged to advance their game and take on different challenges. All participants will be considered for the college badminton squad
(male & female) to compete in various friendly and competitive fixtures and tournaments. In sessions, participants can play competitively, relaxed, singles or
doubles – however you want!Tuesdays, 4.30pm - 5.30pm
BoxerciseBoxercise uses age old training principles with a boxing theme to form a fun, addictive, stress-busting workout suitable for all ages and fitness levels. A Boxercise class can incorporate many components, often in a circuit format, including boxing style stations such as focus pads, punch bag, skipping ropes, and medicine balls. The sessions combine cardio work, strength training, timing, balance and boxing skills into one fitness activity which builds muscular endurance as well as strength. The workout uses the entire body, and the diverse nature of the exercises tones a wide range of muscles, whist also enhancing skills such as hand-eye co-ordination, balance and timing. Boxercise classes are always fun, energetic and addictive – find out for yourself!Wednesdays, 6.30pm - 7.30pm
YogaStrengthening, stress-relieving and relaxing – Yoga is a brilliant way to unwind
after a college day, and you’ll feel great coming out of each class. Yoga is an ancient form of exercise that focuses on strength, flexibility and breathing
to boost physical and mental wellbeing. Using a series of postures and body positions, Yoga is a safe and effective way to improve strength, flexibility and
balance, and it can also help reduce high blood pressure, heart disease, aches and pains, depression and stress. Mats are provided.

ClimbingThe climbing sessions are suitable for beginners and more experienced climbers alike. The climbing wall is located in the college sports building, and provides a good challenge for all. This enrichment is great fun, and you may find yourself getting competitive!Wednesdays, 3.25pm - 4.30pm
Running ClubTempted by taking on the Hastings Half Marathon? Or fancy raising some
money in a fun run or Race for Life? Then join the running club enrichment. It is a great way for beginners to get into running, to pick up some technique on various interesting local routes, and socialise as a group. The sessions are also suitable for more experienced runners and are a good way to improve fitness.

Golf For BeginnersThis is a great offer for anyone wanting to take up golf or progress their skills with lessons from an Advanced PGA Pro golfer. The course is ideal for those with limited experience, and will progress you through various golfing skills from driving to putting, bunker shots to chipping. A fantastic opportunity to learn the game in the pleasant setting of Cooden Beach Golf Club - you will experience a range of practice settings and challenges, designed to give you an all-round appreciation of the shots, clubs and scenarios encountered in the game.Day and time TBC
VolleyballThese sessions are aimed at all levels of Volleyball experience and are all about
having fun! You will be taken through the basic skills and rules and given the opportunity to progress, as well as playing lots of games. You can also play
competitive volleyball matches, with the squads chosen from these sessions. Students will also be given the opportunity to set up a cross-college league, to
provide more structured competition for those that want it.Fridays, 12.15pm - 12.55pm and 12.55pm - 1.35pm

The College GymGym enrichment gives students the opportunity to access regular, structured
gym sessions on a weekly basis. This is perfect for anyone wishing to become more familiar with the gym environment, and progress their knowledge and experience. The brand new state of the art gym is also available for students to use every lunch period, and Tuesday and Wednesday after college. Come
and have a workout at your own pace using the wide range of new equipment available. Cardio equipment includes exercise bikes, rowing machines, a
treadmill, skipping ropes and there is a punch bag, boxing gloves and pads. The gym also houses a wide range of free weights, bars and machines, so
there is something for everyone. New users are inducted upon first use, and personal exercise plans are offered on request.

RowingThe rowing enrichment will provide beginners the opportunity to learn the basics of rowing technique and training, using the college rowing machines in the gym. The sessions will also give those with more experience the chance to advance their fitness and rowing abilities. This enrichment has a clear link to Bexhill Rowing Club, and is run by a qualified rowing coach.Wednesdays, 7.30am - 8.30am
SwimmingBexhill College has access to a good quality
neighbouring 25 metre swimming pool everyTuesday morning. From 7.30 – 8.45am
this is used by the college swimming academy, however there is a free lane for those wishing to progress their swimming
ability and stamina with some early morning lengths. There is a qualified swimming
coach present to offer tips and advice, and this is a brilliant way to start the day. For
the remainder of the morning, the pool is available in two more sessions for a free
swim, where you can swim lane lengths or something less structured if you choose.

TrampoliningInterested in gymnastics but want a new modern twist on the sport? Then come and join the trampolining enrichment! During the sessions you will
develop a variety of new skills with a qualified coach, using the college’s own trampolines. Enjoyable and sociable, the sessions are a great addition to your
college timetable.

RugbyThe rugby enrichment will aim to improve your skills as a player, and sessions will aim to coach the basics of how to play the game in a safe fashion. The enrichment is great for beginners wanting to learn the game, and pick up the basic skills. Current rugby players are also very welcome, and will be encouraged to represent the college in competitive fixtures, the sessions are a great option for any students wishing to reignite their involvement in the game. The enrichment will also involve aspects of physical conditioning for playing the game.Wednesdays, 3.25pm - 4.30pm
TennisWant to improve your tennis skills? Or just want to learn more about the game
and pick up the basic skills? Tennis sessions at college are all-inclusive, and a qualified coach will be on hand to provide support and tips when required. Sessions take place on-site using the tennis courts. If group sessions are not
for you, the tennis courts are open to students every lunchtime (and other times during the week when available) – you can get a couple of friends
together, borrow a racket & ball each and go and have a game.Wednesdays, 3.25pm - 4.30pm

NetballCome to these sessions to improve your skills, learn a new game, or simply
re-ignite your love for netball! All levels of experience are welcome to join this enrichment, where you will find a good balance of skill development, game
play, and fun. Participants will get the opportunity to play matches against other colleges in the area, for those with a competitive spirit.

Table TennisA much-loved and inclusive game, table tennis sessions at college are a great way to let off some steam and have fun. The college sessions have a relaxed atmosphere where you can challenge your friends, as well as gain tips to improve your game. There are opportunities to play in local and regional tournaments and fixtures throughout the year.Wednesdays, 4.30pm - 5.30pm

academy stage a yearly Musical showcasing the singing, dancing and acting talents of students throughout the college. Get a starring role or be part of the
chorus. This enrichment is great for students who love all aspects or performing and theatre production, as well as being part of a lively, creative team.

College PlayThe college play is a great opportunity to showcase your acting skills through a production that is staged yearly. Rock ChallengeLast year the college entered the Rock Challenge competition for the fifth
year in a row and won numerous awards for excellence including ‘Visual Enhancement’, ‘Concept’, ‘Entertainment’ and ‘Cultural & Educational
Achievement’. The Rock Challenge is a Performing Arts competition which is entered by a student led group who last year created an incredible piece called
‘What Lies Beneath The Circus’. Join the Rock Challenge enrichment and be part of next year’s adventure if you have an interest in Dancing, Acting, Set
Design, Costume Design, Hair and Beauty, Creating Soundtracks and Stage Production.

Sewing & Jewellery MakingAvailable to all students who want to learn more about sewing and jewellery

Food
Cooking For FunThis is an introduction to cooking; easy cheap meals on a budget for those
who might need to know how to cook for themselves, especially good if you are going off to University. There is a cost of £1.50 a week to cover buying
ingredients. Students also MUST bring a container or lunch box so that they can take home what they have made.

Other enrichment opportunities College VolunteerStudents can volunteer a minimum of an hour of their time per week to work within the college. Areas include the Library, Property and Grounds, Student Services and Administration but we will try to accommodate specific requests.

Science AcademyGifted and Talented Science students also have the opportunity to join a fast
track AS Science in Society. This is especially recommended for students applying for medicine, veterinary medicine or dentistry as it covers relevant
issues such as clinical trials of drugs and reproductive choices. It is also recommended for students applying to Oxbridge for science as it contains
coursework involving independent research of topical scientific issues which allows you to learn content beyond the A Level Science specifications.
