Step Principle
1. We admitted we were powerless over alcoholthat our lives
had become unmanageable.
Honesty
2. Came to believe that a power greater than ourselves could
restore us to sanity.

3. Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care
of God as we understood Him.

4. Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves. Truth
5. Admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human being
the exact nature of our wrongs.

6. Were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of
character.

7. Humbly asked Him to remove our shortcomings. Humility

In the world when she or he turns to recovery. The addict experiencesa profound change. The change that occurs gives rise to new ways ofthinking, feeling, and seeing the world as well as to alterations of lifestance and lifestyle.
The recovering addict feels more comfortable with self, moreconnected at home in the world, and more open to others, Therecovering addict relates to others differently, becomes more honest,more engaged, more patient, humble and grateful. The recoveringaddict is more mature, psychologically and emotionally, and is able to
relate with others with humor, altruism and hope (Chappel,1992:Khantzian and Mack,1989)
Many addicts attribute these changes to the protection andintervention of a Higher Power. They have a sense of being cared for
and caring.
