1. The most appealing is the visual argument on page 905 of thetree made of hands. This is because the artwork is so well doneand the image is very powerful and easy to interpret. The leastappealing is the visual argument on page 904 because it is hardto look at and does not use imagery very eectively.

. The !rst poster connects dierent attributes of a person anddierent ways we label people with the labels found on foodcontainers. The ne"t one simply connects dierent phrases andwords that are connected with diversity to dierent symbols thatare the same symbols but each one is uni#ue. The third posteruses a #uote with he words hands used very fre#uently with theimage of a tree made of hands. The fourth connects dierentways people can be indenti!ed with the silhouette of a person asif to say any given person can be labeled dierently. The last hasa picture of a face made up with dierent racial features andwords that have to do with diversity written dierently. The most

eective poster is the tree poster because it connects the wordsand image in the most eective and clear way.

$. % think the most didactic is the poster on page 90$ because itcompares labeling people to the way we categori&e substancesthat make up the food we eat and then label on the food'scontainer as if saying labeling people dehumani&es them to food.% think the most vague posters are on page 905 and 904 becausethey are less trying to teach a speci!c moral lesson but (usttrying to promote diversity in general. % think both can beeective depending on your audience but for people my age %think didactic ones are most eective.

4. The poster on page 905 de!nes diversity as !guratively )claspinghands* with our ancestors and our prosperity or futuregenerations and connecting and coming together with them. +rmore speci!cally since the poster was made for ,estern, ashington -niversity as connecting previous students andfaculty as well as future students and faculty with currentstudents and faculty. The relationship between the te"t andimage is strong and straightforward. %t is easy to interpret. Theposter on page 90$ assumes diversity means not categori&ingpeople or possibly that all people are made up of dierent thingsand e"periences similar to dierent foods. The image conveys

this because it is of a food label and behind it there are dierentcolored food labels as if saying each persons labels is dierent.
