Escribe sobre el hotel del verano pasado
Cuando usar el pretérito
imperfecto:
It is used for giving descriptions in the past.
Mi hotel estaba muy límpio.
My hotel was quite clean.
El hotel tenía una piscina muy grande.
The hotel had a big swimming pool.
Cosas a tener en cuenta:• You use the preterite tense for single events
in the past and the imperfect tense for
repeated or continuous actions in the past:
Monté a
caballo-
Preterite
Yo estaba de
vacaciones -
Imperfect
PRESENTEPASADO FUTURO
¿Como funciona?How does it work?
• The imperfect tense is formed by
taking the infinitive of a verb, removing
the endings (-ar, -er, -ir) and then
adding the following endings.
The endings
Estar (to be) Tener (to have) Vivir (to live)
(yo) estaba (I was) Tenía vivía
(tú) estabas (you were) Tenías vivías
(él/ella) estaba (he/she was) Tenía vivía
(nosotros) estábamos (we were) Teníamos vivíamos
(vosotros) estabais (you were) Teníais vivíais
(ellos) estaban (they were) tenían vivían
Note that –er and –ir
verbs take the same
endings in the imperfect.
(only 3 verbs are irregular in the imperfect tense).
The irregular verbs
Ser (to be) Ir (to go) Ver (to see)
(yo) era iba veía
(tú) eras ibas veías
(él/ella) era iba veía
(nosotros) éramos íbamos veíamos
(vosotros) erais ibais veíais
(ellos) eran iban veían

• Mis vacaciones en Francia fueron
horrorosas. Me alojé en un albergue
juvenil que era horrible. Estaba en la
costa. No era nada cómodo. No había
piscina, ni cocina comunitaria ni sala de
desayunos. Lo peor del albergue era que
por la noche había mucho ruido.
• Me quedé en un parador en
Madrid. Era precioso, muy
antiguo y lujoso pero no era muy
animado. No había discoteca ni
piscina. Lo mejor del parador es
que tenía un restaurante muy
bueno pero era un poco caro.
