1. Course Description
This course is basically related with management of human resources in education with a
focus on educational management information system (EMIS) and its planning. Various
aspects of human resource development as latest human resource planning, job analysis,
selection of human resources, training and development, performance management and
performance appraisal system and total quality management (TQM) in human resource
management(HRM) in school are dealt with in the context of Nepal. This course further
provides general concept on management information system (MIS) by relating it with the
concept of EMIS. The concept related to the network of management information system as
a part of human resource management is highlighted. Also, information system planning,data resource management and decision support system are dealt with as the other
supportive concepts of human resource management and management information system.
2. General Objectives
The general objectives of the course are as follows:
To provide the students with the concept of human resource management in education.
To make the students familiar with the concept and principles of human resource
development.
To help the students generalize the processes of planning and developing human
resources. To make the students aware of the challenges of human resource management and
planning.
To familiarize the students with the concept and need of training and career
development along with performance management and appraisal system.
To impart the role of management information system in HRM and the concept of
EMIS in- terms of its attributes, usefulness and steps.
To make the students knowledgeable of the management aspects and concerns of
EMIS with reference to school management information system.
To enable the students in relating information system planning (ISP) with information
resource management (IRM) process.
To familiarize the students with the decision making and decision support system.
To make the students familiarize with the uses of database management system and
modern approaches to database.
To make the students aware of the ethical and social issues related to education
system.
To make the students knowledgeable about TQM as used in HRM in school.

4. Instructional TechniquesThe students will be involved in different learning activities as needed. The instructional
techniques for this course are recommended to be in two major groups.
4.1 General Instructional Techniques

the lesson

4.2 Specific Instructional Techniques
Unit V and VII: Assigning the students to collect the relevant information from
concerned institutions.
Unit VIII: Involving the students in the collection of materials related to EMIS from
DOE and TU.
Unit XII: Lectures by guest speakers, lecturers and resource persons.
5. Evaluation
Both formative and summative evaluation will be used to evaluate the performance of the
students. Formative evaluation includes written tests, class participation, preparation and
presentation of reports and group and individual exercises. The scores of formative
evaluation will be used to provide feedback in order to improve the learning of students.
Annual examination as a summative evaluation will be conducted by the Office of theController of Examinations, T.U. The types and number of questions to be included in the
