2. CHC Technology History Developed by Cliff Ashbrook and
licensed to Lancer Corporation in the early 1990s. Ballistics
observations AW Chesterton licensed the technology from Lancer in
1998. VRTX established as a company in 2003. Liberation Capital
invests in VRTX in 2011. EcoWater Systems acquires technology IP in
2014 and renames the business EcoWater CHC. A Marmon

CHC Cavitation Chamber. Side stream Sweeper nozzles direct
precipitated scale and other debris to filtration intake. Manifold

7. Water & Sewer Savings Average customer reduces make- up
water 20% Average customer eliminates 50% of blow-down Because CHC
is chemical-free, blow-down may be repurposed for other
applications, (i.e. irrigation) saving significantly more water! A

8. Cavitation Metal Destruction from Uncontrolled Cavitation
CAVITATION BUBBLE COLLAPSE cav.i.ta.tionkav' i ta' shunn [1. the
rapid formation and collapse of vapor pockets in a flowing liquid
in regions of very low pressure. A Marmon Water/Berkshire Hathaway
Company Shear stress = 150,000 psi Temperature rise = 10,000 F
9. Inside the CHC Cavitation Chamber The opposing water streams
collide in the cavitation zone, causing millions of high energy,
micro-sized cavitation bubbles to rapidly form and collapse. This
stresses any bacteria and forces calcium carbonate to form in the
bulk water. Water from the sump is pumped under high pressure into
the cavitation chamber, where it is forced to rotate at high
velocity through precision nozzles. The treated water exiting the
cavitation chamber is returned to sump where the precipitated
calcium carbonate is removed by the integral filtration
system.

Hydrodynamic Cavitation Scale Control Changes water chemistry to
precipitate calcium carbonate scale Cell Lysing Cavitation kill
biologics by breaking down cell walls Corrosion Control Vacuum
strips CO2 which elevates pH creating a low corrosion
environment
11. Cavitation Zone Chemistry Implications Notes: 1. Chemical
treatment tried to keep hardness in solution. CHC removes hardness
from the water. 2. Chemicals maintain delicate balance between
scale control and corrosion 3. High temperature accelerates CaCO3
precipitation Scale Control Using CHC 1 CO2 Stripping: High-vacuum
exceeds partial-pressure of CO2; CO2 is vented 2 Hardness Removed
(!): As CO2 vents, reaction shifts right, soft, powdery CaCO3
precipitates and is filtered : Ca(HCO3)2 CaCO3 + H2O + CO2
Dissolved Precipitate Gas (vented) 1. Automatic Scale
Controlremoves requirement to maintain delicate chemical
equilibrium 2. Cycles of Concentration Increase resulting in less
water usage 3. Towers run cleaner resulting in better heat transfer
and lower energy usage Notes: 1. With CHC, you cannot over
treat.
