An important ingredient to student success is parent involvement. Each one of you has a special talent or service to offer. Please let us know how you can help. We are excited about the opportunity to work together with you to ensure a rewarding educational experience for your child. Remember that your commitment is 30 hours for the school year. Hours are collected 3 times during the school year (October, January and May) EVERYONE is expected to work towards this goal! Principal makes the final
decision on all volunteer assignments.
All food served to children must meet the guidelines approved by the board policy and state requirements.
Therefore, high sugar treats such as cupcakes, cookies, etc. are not allowed for classroom celebrations or
birthdays. Please check with your child’s teacher for ideas for healthy alternatives. Furthermore, birthdays
will be celebrated the last 10 minutes of class to
prevent the loss of valuable instructional minutes. PTA will fund two celebrations for every classroom during
the school year (December and June)

Our Vision
Adelante students will achieve academic success,
bilingual and bi-literate proficiency, and
multicultural competency.
Mission
Adelante Academy is a K-8 school that provides an opportunity for all students to achieve high levels of
bilingual proficiency and to develop multicultural competency through a rigorous English and
Spanish dual language immersion instruction program. Our school philosophy is based on the belief that, “one who knows two languages can
contribute in two worlds.” Within this philosophical framework, Adelante values and respects both
languages and all cultures equally, instills a sense of community service in students, develops future
leaders, and involves parents as part of the school learning community.

Attendance Procedures
ABSENCES In order to get the most out of school every day, students must be present and on time. School begins at 8:30 am with our morning opening. Our morning opening is a crucial part of our day as this time allows us to build community. If your child is not in line, he/she will be marked absent/tardy. Excessive tardiness and absences negatively affect learning. Every minute students are here counts! Likewise, every day your child is absent impacts our school financially. If your child must be absent, please call and notify the front office (928-1900) and send a note with your child upon their return to school. Please help us meet our goal of 100% attendance by doing the following:
1. Leave your home earlier so that your child is on time. 2. Make doctor/dental appointments later in the day or after
school as much as possible. 3. Bring students to school even if they have a doctor/dental
appointment – Remember, every minute counts! 4. Plan family vacations during school holidays. 5. Only keep students home when they are very sick.
Thank you for your help in making school a priority! Your child’s success depends on it.
Early Departures Parents wishing to have students released early for a medical appointment, or other reason, must pick up their children in the school office. In order to protect our children, no child will be released to their parent until they are signed out in the school office. Furthermore, students will not be released to other adults that are not listed on child’s emergency card.
Student Emergency Cards The information on your child’s emergency card helps us contact you immediately in the event that your child needs medical attention. Please help us keep this information current by notifying the office as soon as this information changes.
Yard Duty Coverage Keep in mind that we have limited supervision before and after school. A.M. supervision begins at 8:15 a.m. and P.M. supervision ends 15 minutes after students are dismissed. Students are not supervised outside of this time. Please make sure to be on time!
