Aim: How can you begin drawing your final project onto your final copy surface?

Do Now: List techniques associated with the material you are using for your final drawing.

HW:Choose a spot in your house where you can see part of the room and a window. Sketch this section of your room using color media, to render the lighting of the time of day. Do a sketch of this same spot 5 times during the week, all under different lighting conditions; i.e early morning, cloudy day, sunny day, afternoon, early evening, sunset, night. Due Friday 5/22

Official GuidelinesProject Goal: To create an original work that expresses your own concept/idea, showcasing your strength in a drawing or painting medium of your choice. Subject matter (portrait, landscape, figurative, still life etc) is dependent on your project idea/concept. Your drawing must show the following:IMPLIED FORMIMPLIED SPACEIMPLIED TEXTURELIGHT AND SHADOWPRINCIPLES OF DESIGN- should be apparent in how your composition is organized

Your drawing must express an original idea through the use of symbolism. Objects, figures, portraits etc and the materials you choose should be used to represent your idea. Your image must express something to the viewer, give us a feeling, tell us a story, make us think etc. in some way.

Constructing Meaning in Your Artwork:

Decide what subject matter interests you the most

Think of an important topic or theme in your life, relevant to you

Think of current events, political and social issues, environmental issues, and how to express something about these ideas in a visual way

IMPORTANT DATES: You have approximately 15 class days to complete your assignment.

Mon May 26: School closed, Memorial DayTues June 3, no classesThurs June 5th: Review for Final Friday June 6th: Last work day for “My Masterpiece”Monday June 9th: Multiple Choice Test: 40 questions (40 points)Tuesday June 10th: Final Critique of “My Masterpiece” ( counts as separate project grade & 50 Points of exam)/ Written analysis of project (10 points of exam grade)Wed June 11- Friday June 13: Portfolio’s must be photographed and documented. Take home work as it is documented.

Aim: How can you work in an open studio to render your final project?

Do Now: Fill in a calendar page with what you anticipate being able to complete in your project during the course of the week.

HW:Choose a spot in your house where you can see part of the room and a window. Sketch this section of your room using color media, to render the lighting of the time of day. Do a sketch of this same spot 5 times during the week, all under different lighting conditions; i.e early morning, cloudy day, sunny day, afternoon, early evening, sunset, night. Due Friday 5/22

Do Now: Reflect on your progress for the week and determine what you can do differently next week to improve your project.

HW: Due today

Next week: No school Monday. 4 Work days!

June 2-6 is the last week to work on final projects. June 3 is not a school day, and June 5th is a review day- not a work day! Please plan accordingly to complete your project for the final review & written analysis on June 10th!
