How to behave, etc. Here, we will give you additional insight, that can

1. The Effective Resume – Check!
A good resume won’t get you a job – but a bad resume, can lose you
one! Your resume should summarize all your relevant details on one
page. Here are some of the best practices you should follow to make
an effective resume.
Basic formatting and typo checks -
Please ensure the CV is properly formatted and there are NO spelling
errors! Use multiple columns, for example, the personal details on the
left hand side and the main information on the right.

People spend only 10-30 seconds reading your resume. Focus on
highlights, don’t put too many items or irrelevant things. For example,
your coding experience is not relevant for a banking job!
Short and Sweet -
Put the key points up front -
If your academics are good, you should put that first. If your work
experience is relevant and strong; or you have notable achievements,
make sure these are noticeable and prominent!
Avoid poor content -
Better to leave out hobbies or extra-curricular, if they are not strong.
Hobbies like ‘making friends, watching movies’, or extra-curricular
like ‘Participated in fashion show’ add nothing to your CV, and give a
poor impression.

show that you’re interested, than putting a great certification in
banking, on your CV? This is an excellent, effective way to get
yourself a big advantage! It’s a great investment for your future.
Getting a certification, will show your initiative and also provide you
fundamental knowledge of banking, which will boost your confidence.

3. Core Banking Software
Core banking Software (CBS) is a centralized software which banks
use, to manage transactions. As a bank officer, you will be working
extensively with such software. Showing that you have the knowledge
of any core banking software, will help you stand out, BIG TIME. Here
are some popular softwares and from where you can learn them:

2. Banking Certifications
Oracle FLEXCUBE -
This CBS, offered by Oracle, is used in India, by Canara Bank, YES
Bank and a few others. Unfortunately, as this is not used by many
banks, we could only find technical training on this software (
http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-
dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=35 ), that is, it is for the software
professionals who work on this package, not the bankers.
Finacle by Infosys -
This is the most popular CBS in India, with most banks using this (

different-banks-in_18.html )

There are some institutes which offer classroom training on Finacle,
but that means you have to spend time going to the center, paying a
hefty fee. The best option here, is the ‘Smart Banker Program with
Finacle’ by FLIP. This online course will cover both branch banking
operations and hands-on training with simulations, on Finacle. The
certification is by FLIP and Finacle, as FLIP is an authorised
education partner for Finacle. Click here to Know more.

Personal questions: ‘Tell me something about yourself!”
No one is born perfect; it is absolutely fine if you cannot answer a few
things. If you don’t know something just accept it politely and don’t
fake it - nothing annoys an interviewer more.
This is such a commonly asked and 99% mis-answered question. You
have a fantastic opportunity, to lead the interview, in the areas you
want. Instead, a common answer is, a repeat of the basic facts on the
CV, which they already have. Consider these two answers: “ My name
is Javed Akthar. I am from Baroda. I have one sister and one brother.
I have completed my M.Com and – uh – uh – want to join a bank.”

Debatable issues -
“I come from a family of professionals – both my parents are
bankers. I have consistently been an all rounder in both
academics and extra curricular. I am outgoing by nature, and
like interacting with people. As I am the middle brother, I
have an adjustable nature. I’m now looking forward to start
my career, in banking”.
See the difference? This is a chance to tell them, the highlights of
your CV. Do it!
You might be asked questions related to debatable issues and the
Interviewer might ask your opinion. You have to be balanced. Don’t
show any strong prejudices – your interviewer might hold the
opposite opinion!
General awareness questions -
Prepare thoroughly on all current issues – demonetisation effects,
GST, Bhim app, payment banks, small finance banks are some key
topics. Here is a blog which we thought might be helpful for you
about different questions and how to answer them. Click here to
