Ahoy Mates! Or as those who saw me could have said, Aloha Key Clubbers!
Hope everyone’s not too sea sick –joke- & enjoyed the Fall Training
Conference held last week. I speak for myself (and hopefully those who
went) when I say we had a lot of laughs, games & Candy!! We learned a lot,
the different forums discussing how to be a better President, VP, Treasurer,
Secretary, Historian & Member! We had a second round of forums for the
Treasurer, Historian & Member, which were how to build leadership, service
projects, and of course DCON!
Kiwanis Governor Susan is doing her Zone Meeting for
Divisions 1, 2, 37, & 39 this Saturday, (I was informed
by our Kiwanis LTG that registration would start at
8:30-9 AM) but the actual conference will start 10am-
4pm at Oak View Baptist Church, 1004 Story Rd,
Irving TX. Governor Susan wants as many key club
members there as possible. If you are attending you
need to let me know! I hope that most of you can make
it. There is a $12 charge for registration and
lunch. Key club will reimburse your cost but a key
club member must pay this or get their sponsoring
Kiwanis Club to agree to pay it, really do hope
everyone can make this and hear our wonderful
Kiwanis Governor Speak!
It’s October, which means
it’s time for the traditional
Trick or Treat for
UNICEF!
This year the goal is to get
the money in (the goal this
year is 250 dollars) before
December 31st! Hope you
guys reach your goal,
because then you get a
patch for your beautiful
banner! A must see… WOAL stands for Weekend Of A Lifetime! And
what a weekend it is!
While I have never personally gone, I know many
people who have that love it and enjoy it very much.
It’s basically a weekend filled with fun exercises
(not the workout kind!), Workshops & icebreakers
where not only you meet new people & make new
friendships but you learn how to be a leader & a
better person(through values & character)!
For more information (I will start talking about this
more in upcoming months though!) talk to me or go
online to
http://lifeleading.com/weekend.php
Yes! It’s one more month till November, and you know what that
means? The thing I love the most during this month (other than
Thanksgiving & March of Dimes Awareness Month!), is Kiwanis
Family Month! What better way to start it than with Key Club
Week!
TUESDAY, NOV. 8
What are YOU
going to do?
MONDAY, NOV. 7
Show your K in every way—Show people
what Key Club is all about! Spread the
word by wearing Key Club gear and
publicizing Key Club Week in local stores,
your school Web site, community
newspapers—even on the radio. Officially
announce Key Club Week in
your community or in the school!
TUESDAY, NOV. 8
Kudos to the Key players—personally
thanks all the Key Club supporters you
know—teachers, advisors and other Key
players. Write thank-you notes, host an
appreciation dinner or do something
uniquely your own style to recognize the
contributions of these special people.
WEDNESDAY, NOV. 9
Connect the Ks—Key Club is the
largest high school service
organization in the world and is
a member of the Kiwanis family.
Celebrate the entire family of
Kiwanis by getting the whole
gang involved. Connect with
local Kiwanis, Circle K or
anyone from the Kfamily for a
joint service project.
THURSDAY, NOV. 10
Bring a friend to Key Club—More
members = more service. Increasing
the amount of service Key Club
performs increases the impact Key
Club has on the world. Bring a friend, or
two, or more to your next Key Club
meeting.
FRIDAY, NOV. 11
Your way—This is your club’s chance to do its own thing and make its mark. Pick a project, plan a
recruitment party or combine activities from the other Key Club Week days. Whatever idea you
choose, take it and run with it.
A Look into November…..
More can be found at http://www.keyclub.org/service/kcw.aspx under the “Key Club
Week Manual” (Club Lunch Booth-Monday Project; Mystery Treat Bags- Tuesday
Project)
March of Dimes! (November is its Awareness month!)
The Awareness color is light purple! See the baby’s hat on the March of dimes picture for
a reference!
Whatever you decide to do related to this theme, please inform me! I would love to put together some kind of thing for the next month putting what everyone did! Related
to March of Dimes!
Possible Projects
What is March of Dimes? March of Dimes is a nonprofit organization that works to improve the health of mothers and babies as well as raise awareness towards pregnant women in how to avoid pre-mature births
What can we do to raise awareness in our school?
- Hold a Dimes Drive (Penny Drive). Make it exciting,
and have a “competition” against the classes!
- Sell “Awareness Ribbons”! The color is light purple
- Go online to:
http://www.marchofdimes.com/volunteers/teamyout
h.html
And see what other projects/ideas there are here!
I really hope you guys get as pumped for this as I
am! Have a great day!
