A B
MASTER CLASS ATheme: On-Demand Delivery
MASTER CLASS BTheme: Delivery Disruption
Opening Address: Changing the grocery landscape: Leveraging people and technology to pick, pack, and delivering groceries on-demandInstacart- is getting creative about picking, packing and delivering food on-demand. The session explains how Instacart customers are getting speedier delivery options with the tap of a few buttons and outsource their grocery chores to someone else.
∙ Technology and physical solutions go hand-in-hand to help grocers meet customer demand efficiently
∙ In-store efficiency solutions: Express check-out, bypass checkout, specialized roles and areas
∙ Behind the scenes technology & data science: Accurate assortment, aisle mapping, end to end management
Sarah Mastrorocco Head of Retail Sales Instacart
Opening Address: Emerging Trend- don’t fall short on customers’ BOPIS expectationsWith online retail trying to outpace brick-and-mortar, and customers’ increasing expectation to define their personal shopping experience, brick-and-mortar retailers face increasing pressure to elevate their brand equity and become and remain their target market’s preferred retailer. The challenge large retailers’ face is how they can implement BOPIS at scale while also planning to meet their customers’ future needs.
∙ Get your four-part BOPIS process right- order placement, time estimate, order fulfillment, and pickup notification
∙ Lack of focus on in-store pickup in the online app
∙ Add search filters and heightened visibility of BOPIS-eligible items
∙ Does it offer enough strategic & profit advantage to justify the investment required to meet these expectations?

MASTER CLASS ATheme: On-Demand Delivery
MASTER CLASS BTheme: Delivery Disruption
Case Study: Future of consumerism- Bringing the world to your doorstepThe on-demand economy is here, and companies are becoming more efficient, more technologically advanced, and more realistic. Being flexible enough to provide delivery options to customers is cost prohibitive to a traditional structure. In this session, we’ll talk about the delivery challenges of today – and tomorrow:
∙ Proximity, Communication or Manpower? Biggest pain point of on-demand world
∙ Saturation of new markets: Reimagining offerings to more convenient and more affordable
∙ Creating full transparency throughout the delivery process
Michael Pezzicola Head of Business-Expansion Operations Google Express
Case Study: Industry Insight- How grocery stores perfect ‘Click & Collect’As the click-and-collect model becomes increasingly popular with grocers, it’s not a case of delivery gaining dominance over click-and-collect, or vice versa. Both will growth and coexist, with shifting patterns of preference based on demographics and geographies. It’s a case of different models in different contexts.
∙ Financially feasable? Labor-intensive?
∙ Bridge the gap- Improved ‘in-stock’ inventory technologies to avoid out of stock merchandise
∙ Will items be priced uniformly across the various fulfillment options a retailer offers?
