Pinterest value proposition

Pinterest is a social network that allows users to visually organize and categorize content based on common themes. Users can do many other standard social network actions (Sharing, liking, comment), as well pinning (Pinterest term for posting) the content on other social networks like Facebook or twitter.

The main value proposition is that individuals can find likeminded people to interact with. And from the business perspective, organizations can easily find their audience based on their interest.

Why would an organization want to use Pinterest?

By embedding Pinterest link into the organization website, in order for users to pin it when they see something that catches their eyes. This will also enhance the website's SEO since other users will be able to see and re-pin this same post or open it if it is of their interest as well.

Since Pinterest is all about people’s interests, another advantage for organizations is that they can easily find and target their audience just by doing a simple search.

Finally, Pinterest is now introducing Rich Pins, which allows organizations to display more information on their posts, like location, articles, recipe, etc.

Pinterest for B2C or B2B?

Even when Pinterest is able to work for both (B2B-B2C), B2C companies are the ones

that can make the most out of it.

This is mainly because of Pinterest main audience: Women.

Women love to shop; therefore chances are higher that companies in the fashion,

beauty, home departments (most of Pinterest accounts) , make easier and fastest

sales within this demographic.
