Digitiliti has evolved as a company over the past decade offering multiple solutions in the stor-
age industry. In 2005, Digitiliti offered one of the first on-line data protection solution. Today,
we are protecting hundreds of company’s data and have over a billion files under manage-
ment. With the release of DigiLibe, we will revolutionize the way in which corporations man-
age their unstructured and semi-unstructured data.
In today's legal and regulatory environments businesses
need to begin to adopt a new strategy for managing their
digital informational assets. Historically companies have
relied on technology vendors to deliver storage solutions
that address specific pain points associated with data
growth, security, and protection. As a result of this "bolt
together" approach, organizations manage unstructured
data files in the same manner without regard to their ac-
tual business value.
IDC reports unstructured data accounts for around 70% of the overall data stored and grows
an average of 30% to 40% per year. It is also noted, 20% of this data is active, while the other
80% is inactive. These statistics validate the need to be able to manage this information more
efficiently, but more importantly be able to control, retain, delete and make this data available
for user to share the knowledge contained with in these files and emails.
Information Management Problems:
Information Availability—Organizations have virtually zero control over what is created, what
is kept and where it is stored and shared. Much of file data is hidden in deep directories, fold-
ers, and its content is not known other than by its creator. Virtually impossible to leverage any
knowledge from backup and archive data
Unstructured Information Control & Compliance—Data growth in organization is given, but it
is made even more complicated due to multiple copies and versions are being stored on multi-
ple platforms. It makes it very difficult, if not impossible to secure this data for controlled ac-
cess, let alone try and align information technology with corporate governance policies. Com-
pliance becomes almost an impossible task.
Cost Control—Solving the information management issues with current solutions has lead to
implementing multiple point products and having to utilize additional IT resources for the up-
keep and maintenance of these systems and vendors.
Digitiliti’s DigiLibe is solving the information management problems by combining the best of
the storage industry with business intelligence strategies to change how people store, control,
secure and access this data. DigiLibe delivers a complete information management solution to
enable companies to bring structure to the unstructured files by identifying the business value
to corporate information and aligning it to business objectives. It does so, easily and in a dis-
tributed fashion on a corporate wide basis.

DigiLibe gives users and applications the ability to mine the knowledge of what is stored and archived.
Traditional applications tend to only give you one piece of the solution, where DigiLibe has solved the
problem at the root cause. When you consider, on average, 70% of data stored is comprised of un-
structured files and emails, where does the opportunities and risk reside? DigiLibe’s holistic approach
addresses the issues of data growth, data proliferation, storage efficiency and information manage-
ment through a unified storage architecture coupled with complete policy driven management.
DigiLibe takes a client centric approach to ensure data is captured and controlled at time of creation.
Once enrolled into DigiLibe, data is coded with DNA properties to form a unique, fully indexed, and
secure Information Object. These objects reside in a virtual corporate library that can be transparently
access by users and applications from hard drive to archive.
Virtual Corporate Library—All Files/Emails - always online-always available
Thru DigiLibe, data is fully content indexed and can be
accessed through a simple search interface. Users no
longer have to sift through multiple storage locations
to find files and emails. They simply type what they
are interested in and DigiLibe returns the results.
Accessing these files/emails is just a double click, no IT
involvement —regardless of whether they are stored
locally or in the archive.
DigiLibe also enables complete version control to track
changes for collaboration or file rollback (reverting to
the last saved version)
Compliance officers can conduct risk assessments or
audits through multi-mailbox search, complete meta-
data capture and reporting .
Control and Security over Unstructured Data IT staff and end user productivity
DigiLibe enables continuous availability of files and email by
collecting meta data and implementing corporate informa-
tion policies at time of file creation and email capture. Poli-
cies can be implemented on a global, group, user, file type
or combination. Complete data security is enabled through
tight integration with Active Directory.

For the past few decades the storage architectures and processes in storage have not dramatically
changed because of the client server based environment. Yes, we have seen new protocols, drive capaci-
ties, and storage concepts such as SAN/NAS, but at the end of the day, we end up with data stored inside
employees internal hard drives and on proprietary storage devices. Over time, we outgrow the capacity
of these devices and either migrate data to a larger storage array or we simply add another array to our
environment. As the business grows, more employees results in more workstations, data growth, data
proliferation, points of failure not to mention unnecessary file duplicates and legal exposure. Whether
the data files exist in someone's laptop, workstation or high end SAN, the fact is that separate file inven-
tories continue to grow over time in size and quantity making it impossible to achieve efficient, effective
information management. These inefficiencies have driven the complexity and cost of information man-
agement to unnecessary levels.
DigiLibe integrated architecture eliminates the need for multiple
products and vendors to manage data backup to the archive. Imag-
ine the savings not having to have separate backup software/servers,
tape drives, courier services, offsite replication, archive systems,
deduplication devices, encryption, index appliances…. With
DigiLibe’s robust file/email policy control, IT can simply and efficiency allocate primary storage, archive,
labor and server capacity while allowing users and applications continued access to their data.
Transparent Data Protection— Automatic, Continuous Data Protection from Hard
Drive to Archive DigiLibe’s policy enables full lifecycle management from the creation of the file to the deletion. All files
are captured via include/exclude list, and Emails are captured during send/receive with out any user in-
volvement. The data is automatically sent and enrolled into the onsite Information Director and con-
verted to unique Intelligent information objects. These information objects are deduplicated, fully con-
tent indexed, secured, encoded with meta data and other IT defined policies. The files and emails are
then automatically transmitted to the Archived Information Director for continuous protection.
Data Reduction— Global Deduplication, Compression & File Lifecycle Management DigiLibe is all about storing less data. Deduplication occurs at the Digi-Client, Information Director and
Archive Information Director. DigiLibe runs multiple dedup algorithms over each file and email so only
unique data is stored and archived. Client-side deduplication ensures only unique files are sent to mini-
mize traffic flow. Deduplication at the Information Directors enables files, email messages and attach-
ments to only be stored once with the Subject, To, From and CC logged in our system for archive effi-
ciency. These unique information objects are then coded with lifecycle policies, compressed and stored
in the Archive Information Director
