vertical garden has been set up at our campus. Green plastic initiative and drip irrigation are
effective steps to solve the environmental problems. It is a great way to utilize hanging space
and conserve water at the same time. Out of the different varieties a container style gardening
has been chosen by the college. In it empty plastic bottles have been used as containers in which
saplings have been planted and the bottles have been hanged in rows on the walls. The garden
has been started with 1500 plants of 15 varieties. Tree plantation drives are encouraged and are
quite frequent in the campus. Plastic project files are donated to needy students.

7.3 Give two Best Practices of the institution.
1. Title:
Vertical Garden – An Innovative Environment Saviour
Goal:
To reduce the impact of urban environment.
To improve the air quality.
To utilise the limited space.
To reduce the ill effects of environmental pollution.
The Context:
Vertical gardening is an innovative, effortless and highly productive growing system that uses
bottom -up and top-down supports for a wide variety of plants in both small and large garden
spaces. When plants are raised up off the ground, this improves air circulation. Research has
revealed that plants improve both indoor and outdoor air quality by removing harmful volatile
organic compounds and absorbing pollutants.
The Practice:
As we all know that environment is getting degraded with each passing day, so with the desire to play
a constructive role in saving environment , a vertical garden has been started at the college campus.
This garden was inaugurated by the Eco-saviour honorable Sh. Binay K. Jha, Chief Commissioner,
Income Tax on 2nd May,2018, under the Green Plastic Initiative. A vertical garden is a garden that
grows upward (vertically) using a trellis or other support system, rather than on ground (horizontally).
It is a great way to utilize hanging space and conserve water at the same time. Out of many different
varieties, a container style gardening has been chosen by the college. In it, empty plastic bottles have
been used as containers in which saplings have been planted and bottles have been hanged in rows on
the walls.
On 22nd March 2018, a workshop on E-Taxation, was organised by P.G. Department of
Commerce and Management. C.A. Jagjit Singh familiarized the students about E-filing of the
returns.
On 23rd April 2018, a seminar on ‘Career Guidance’ was organised by P.G. Department of
Commerce and Management.Mr.Inderjeet Singh (ADO) from the Institute of Banking Training
acted as the guest speaker for the occasion.
On 2nd May 2018, Vertical Garden of the college was inaugurated by the eco-saviour honorable
Sh Binay K Jha, Chief Commissioner, Income Tax.
Page 49
In it, Drip irrigation technique has been used, as the water that drips out of the holes falls straight
through to the plants below. In the college, this garden started with 1500 plants of 15 varieties
including plants like Aloevera, Moneyplant, Croton, Saplera, Son of India, Anderson and Ratanjot
etc. This Green Plastic Initiative and Drip Irrigation is the best way to transform this the concrete
into greenery. The college aims to plant 7000 saplings by the end of next year under this project.
2. Title:
Earn While You Learn
Goal:
To make the students self reliant and economically independent.
To engage the students in meaningful and positive activities.
To explore the potential of students as a valuable human resource.
To give students hand on experience and thereby prepare them for jobs in future.
The Context:
‘Earn while you learn’ is an opportunity which allows you to earn money when you are studying.
The scheme enables the students to earn some extra pocket money and getting work experience
while studying. This programme outlines the need to introduce new and innovative skills that will
arm the youth towards increasing our economic growth and competitiveness.
The Practice:
Following its vision to make female section of the society economically independent and self
reliant, a workshop from 1st February to 21st February 2018 , was conducted by the Centre for
Value Education under its project ‘Earn while you learn’ in collaboration with NGO V-Mad. In
this workshop, students were taught the skills of earning and attaining self- sufficiency. Director of
V-Mad , Sh. Jatinder Manchanda and his expert team members Mrs Indu Gupta , Mrs Ruchika Peri,

stitching during the workshop. The college organised an exhibition cum sale of the products made
