Whatisadevelopmentcentre?Development centres help identifying specific focus areas where the participants need toimprove their skills. They are similar to Assessment Centres in many ways, but instead ofselecting thesuitablecandidate fora job, theirpurpose is to identifypossibleweaknessesandconcentrate on the exploitable potential of the participants, so they focus on the furtherdevelopmentoftheparticipantverymuchliketalentdevelopmentprogrammes.

The target groups can be examined in differentways. For example, the development centre cantake place with multiple participants assessed atthe same time, or focusing on individualweaknesses.

Organizers can assess any quality or skill that isnecessary for performing in the specific job, sodevelopment centres canbeanessentialpartof acompany’s talent management strategy. Theemphasis is on personal improvement, andparticipantsgetcontinuousfeedbackabouttheirperformance.

It is recommended that you assign onesupervisor to each group to assess the participants’ individual performances and skill sets.

SimTeam is useful when targeting specific competences, management skills and “soft” skillelements(likecreatingandgivingpresentations).

You canuse theplatformas a follow-up re-evaluation programme at the end ofdifferent phases of the developmentprogramme. This way you can evaluate theparticipants’ development progress incertainareas, butSimTeamoffersinteractiveways to use it as a fun closing stage of awholedevelopmentprogramme, too.

SimTeam can also be used for improvingteamwork and providing experience forparticipants from different professionalareassimultaneously.

Whoshouldattend?Developmentprogrammesareusuallyattendedbyemployees,whetherexperiencedornewly-hired,whoareprogressingtonewcorporatepositions,orwhotakepartintalentorleadershipdevelopment programmes. Participants should be open to critical feedback, as well as tolearningnewmethodsandapproachesinthedevelopmentprocess.

Whyisitunique?§ YoucanconfigureSimTeamtosimulatelifeliketimepressuresituations§ Thesimulationcanhavespecifiedinitialconditions§ Unlike the other applications, the SimTeam simulation isdifficult to predict. A large

number of parameters can be adjusted everytime you use the platform. Therefore, participants cannot prepare for its challenges, andtheDCcanalwaysoffernewscenarios.

§ Thesimulation is available innine languages(English, German, Russian, Estonian, Slovak,Romanian,Polish,TurkishandHungarian)

At SimTeam we attach great importance to ourpartners’ success, therefore we provide preciselyconstructed simulation scenarios, and we can alsoprovide training courseswhereyou can learnhow tooperate the platform and understand the benefits itbringstoyouandtoyourcompany’sdevelopmentcentres.

AboutSimTeamsimulation

SimTeam is abusiness simulationplatform thatmodels the operation of project-basedenterprises. During the simulation participantsform teams representing different modelcorporations. The participants act in differentmanagerial roles inside themodel corporations. The software simulates a competitive marketwhere the model companies compete. In thecourseofthecontesttheparticipants learnhowto formulate a corporate strategy and how tocreate an effective and efficient organisation toachievetheirstrategicgoals.SimTeamhasautomatedfinancialfunctionalities(generalledger;balancesheet,profitandlossaccount,cashflowoverview)accordingtogenerallyacceptedaccountingrules.Eachteamoperatesamodelcorporation,wherethistheywillfaceimmensemarketdriven(external)challenges(whichvaryinthedifferentcasestudies)andoperationalchallengesarisingfromtheiravailablemanpowerandtheircashflowsituation.Thetrainercanassignindividualmissionsandpersonalgoalstotheparticipantsbasedontheirmanagerialrolein the simulated organisation. These individual missions and goals can be conflicting, which could lead to arguments among the teammembers similarly to a real life changemanagementsituation. The trainer can also provide exercises for the teams (e.g. review and present strategy, preparebusinessplans).

UsingcasestudiesduringthesimulationDuring the training, the trainers can usedifferent case studies. Case studies arepreciselyconstructededucationalprogramswith specific starting positions for theteams, pre-recorded market events, anddefinedgoalsfortheparticipantsduringthewhole simulation program. We provideuniquely prepared case studies fordevelopmentcentreusersensuringthattheparticipants face unique challenges. Thecase studies can reflect to the focus of thedevelopmentcentreevent.
