That’s one of the reasons our annualDesign an Ad special supplementcontinues to be popular in Burnaby. The Burnaby NOW, local businessesand organizations, and the Burnabyschool district, team up and ask citystudents to design newspaper ads forthe special section.Every year, the students produceinsightful, creative, thoughtful – andoften humorous – advertisements thathighlight the strengths of their subjectsand often carry compelling messages. The businesses and groups get tochoose which students’ advertisementthey want to run in the section and ourphotographer visits the students. Theads and the students’ photos are puttogether by our team at the BurnabyNOW and another Design an Adsection is complete. The ads are also on display atLougheed Town Centre fromMarch 19.I would like to thank all of the students, teachers and participating advertisers
who continue to make this annualproject a real success!

child is given the opportunity to learn,to be inspired and to succeed. In Burna-by, we embrace the rich diversity of ourschool communi!es andwork togetherto provide engaging, inclusive andwel-coming learning environments.Children start learning at birth. In fact,
early learning supports later academicsuccess. To give your child the best startpossible, families with children newbornto age ]ve are encouraged to drop in toone of our StrongStart B.C. Learning Cen-tres. If your child starts kindergarten thisyear, PALS (Parents As Literacy Support-ers) is a newly expanded transi!on pro-gram that begins in April.Burnaby schools o"ermany op!ons
