A Warning and Safety Instructions

1 General InformationService and repair work should only be carried out by a suitably qualifiedelectrician (with specialist training, knowledge and experience, and recent relatedwork experience) in accordance with all appropriate local and national safetyregulations.

Servicing, modification, testing and maintenance of electrical appliances shouldonly be carried out in accordance with all appropriate legal requirements, accidentprevention regulations and valid standards.

Unless absolutely essential, e.g., fault finding with supply voltage, working on amachine connected to the power supply should always be avoided. If working ona machine with an applied voltage at a potentially dangerous level is unavoidable, special safety measures must be taken into consideration and complied with.x

Warning!

Even with the machine switched off, power may be applied to somecomponents.

Before starting any service work, the machine must be disconnected from thepower supply. Suitable measurements must be made to ensure that this is thecase.

A general visual check should always be carried out.

3 Touch Current Measurement

Note

On machines with a ground connection, touch current leakage measurementsshould be carried out on all accessible conductive parts that are not connectedto ground.

Warning!

Touch current measurement should only be carried out after the groundconnection of the machine under test has been checked and found to besatisfactory!

Dangerous voltages may exist on defective machines as well as on accessibleconductive parts that are not connected to ground!

Note

Touch current measurement should be carried out on the following accessibleconductive parts:

• Door handle

• Viewing screen with full metal front (stainless steel or aluminum/titanium)

• Viewing screen with metal trim (classic design)

3.5 Appliance is Not Automatically Activated via CVA (Coffeemaker)

Cause

Incorrect connection of built-in warming drawer.

The well-established function of switching on a cup-warming drawer via a coffeemachine is not possible with the built-in food-warming drawer. The built-in food-warming drawer is an electronically controlled machine. To switch it on it is notsufficient to simply switch on the power supply. Additional activation via theelectronic sensor field is also required.

Connection of the built-in food-warming drawer via the CVVK power cord, mat.no. 6717580, is not permitted. The coffee machine switch contact is designed for400 watts, but the built-in food-warming drawer has a power rating of 1000 watts.

Remedy

A Removal from a Housing Unit, 010 4.1.

A Disconnect the CVVK power cord, mat. no. 6717580.

4.1 30-Inch Warming Drawers; Closing Behavior; Rep. Kit, Part#08349290

A ESW 4xxx warming drawers – How to remedy drawer-closing issues.

A The ESW 4xxx warming drawers have a closing device on the end of eachtelescopic runner. This ‘Stop Control’ can become dislodged or damagedduring handling, installation, or rough use. There is a ‘repair kit’ that containsa pair of these drawer closure devices.

A If indicated, please order part #08349290, Rep. Kit Pull-Out SpringMechanism. The kit comes with an instruction sheet; you can download theseinstructions online.

A Note that these closing devices have a left and right orientation; the spring-loaded hooks should be facing each other across the drawer. Remember alsothat these hooks need to be slid back and extended before installing andbefore closing the drawer.

4.2 ESWWarming Drawers; Fan Behavior

A The newest models of warming drawers (ESW 4XX2) are electronicallycontrolled. This allows for more precise temperature control and extendedmulti-function features. The timer function is one of these enhanced features.By selecting a timed cycle (1-4 hours), the unit will heat only for that amountof time. Once the timer has expired, the fan will continue to run. This is bydesign. Some customers may think that the timer is not working properly, butthis is not the case. Reference page 13 of the owners’ manual.

A There is no need to set up service for fan run-on. Explain to the customer thatthe fan continues to run to prevent excess heat buildup and to keep thewarmth in the drawer even at all levels.
