• Deloitte Netherlands is part of the global Deloitte brand; members of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Limited (DTTL), a UK private company limited by guarantee.
• It provides audit, consulting, financial advisory, risk management, and tax services to selected clients.
• As it handles financial data and private client information, compliance with government regulations is of paramount importance.
• Law in Netherlands All Deloitte’s documents, databases and content from internal audit system must be retained for a minimum of seven years, and in some cases, much longer.

Deloitte’s New Compliant Archiving Strategy
• Both enterprise storage and archiving must be provided on a single platform.• There must be replication for backup and disaster recovery. • The new storage and archiving solution must have compliance certifications. • Offerings from major storage vendors must be carefully evaluated.
Deloitte’s decision:To deploy HP Converged Infrastructure for their high available, non-complex and easy to manage solution in combination with iTernity Compliant Archive Software (iCAS).

How the joint storage and archiving solutions are implemented
• iCAS runs on HP ProLiant DL980 servers in a virtualized Microsoft® Windows® Server 2008 R2 operating environment.
• Both primary enterprise storage and data archive are provided by HP XP P9500 Storage.
• Two XP P9500 systems are deployed in Deloitte’s twin Amsterdam data centers.
• The storage is also replicated to a 3rd XP P9500 system located 75 km away in Rotterdam.
• The XP P9500 systems support over 1.5 PB data; part of it is being replicated.

How the new compliant archiving solution is implemented
• Archive process across both paths in Amsterdam and the link to Rotterdam is continually monitored by iCAS’ replication built-in.
• Any logical errors are detected and self-healed by iCAS, ensuring uninterrupted archiving to maintain compliance and mitigate any risks to Deloitte and its clients.
• Once data is archived, it can never be modified (iCAS’ WORM technology).
• Applying a prevention of information from being deleted via the application before the specified retention period has expired.
