Definitions of E-Business
E-Business is the uses of electronic communication and digital information
processing technology in business transaction to credit, transform ad redefine
relationship between organizations and clients.
Factors enabling e-business
Demographics factors
A country demography are likely to act as enablers or inhibitors for e-business
development, as they related to market size ad centralization, consumer needs and
ease of access to technology.
• Economic and financial factors
• The availability of financial resources such as venture central to support on-
line business and start-up is another factor that enables e-business.
• The availability of on-line payment methods such us credit cards are used
sparingly.
• The availability of investment capital which promote the expansion of the ICT
sector and e-business.
Technology factors
The telecommunication infrastructure
The nature of the available telecommunications sources especially the availability of high bandwidths for rapid information transmission for example, telephone
exchange which is a system of electronic components that connects telephone calls,
pairs enabling digital sources such as ISON or DSL.
Cost of telecommunications:- relates sources which is part are related to the
management and regulatory regimes of the telecommunications system and parts
though the choice pf technologies uses in the delivery of those services.
• Availability of computers equipped with a modem and appropriate software’s
in the national economy and the trained capacity to use them. Examples,
Services oriented artechiture with capitals (SOA) which is the reliable set of design
principles used during the phases systems development and integration in
computing.

• Availability of policy researches the public, private ad academic sectors and
the existence of business culture and the spirit of entrepreneurship within the
national economy.
Examples,
E-government refers to use of information and communication technology to
provide s and improves government services, transaction with citizens, businesses
and other arms of government.
Policy and structural factors
The legal ad policy environment establish by government to facilitate business in
general and e-business in particular both of which have direct effect on trust
accorded to electronic transactions. In African context, availability of government,
financial resources often increase implementation of policy and thus have
encouraged e-business.
Tax and tariffs policies that encourage or support economic activity rather than act
as barriers to growth.
