Our Youth Club offers a safe, warm, and friendly environment giving young people the opportunity to relax with their peers and also engage with other youngsters in their community. Over the years, the club has gone from strength to strength, gaining a core membership of 50 youngsters,
establishing itself as an important service for this age group within Llanelli.
The club is run by a highly qualified and dedicated team, ensuring that the young people gain a positive and rewarding experience. This is achieved by utilising the facilities at the centre, as well creating an enthralling programme of activities including holistic activities, healthy cooking workshops, special themed nights and days out.
Based in our Dewi Sant Centre, the club meets twice a week during term time on a Tuesday (for Under 14s) and Thursday (for Over 14s) evening. A warm
welcome is extended to everyone.
At CYCA, we offer a wide range of youth
services, benefiting and engaging with
youngsters across the whole of
Carmarthenshire. Our highly dedicated
and fully qualified team of creative
officers and youth workers ensure this
area of our work continues to be at the
fore-front of Carmarthenshire’s youth
provision.
From an ‘in-house’ established youth
club and sporting programmes in local
secondary schools to digital media projects and
activities for Looked After Children, our youth
initiatives truly offer a unique experience which will
appeal to all young people!
Digital Media is also an important aspect
of our work, where most notably we work
with young people within rurally isolated
areas of the County where we use digital
media as an engagement tool in order to
demonstrate the importance and benefits
of digital media use. The work then
involves assisting
young people in
developing their own
sustainable digital media resources,
which includes interactive magazines and
community DVDs. We are also planning online TV
stations and much more!
Our youth provision also includes
rolling out ‘Angling Participation’
and ‘Skateboard’ programmes
within schools across the County.
The ‘Angling Participation’ project
was launched in 2004 and thanks
to the hard work carried out by a
dedicated group of volunteers, has
gone from strength to strength.
The project sees youngsters
across the County being taught the
art of Fly Fishing and Fly Dressing,
and over the course of the scheme, a number
have developed their skills to such an extent that they
have gone on to represent Wales all over the world.
Our unique and innovative ‘Skateboard’ programme is also proving to be a
major hit across Carmarthenshire, with a number of secondary schools
taking part.

The youth area of our work also involves
working with youngsters who are in care
as part of the Looked After Children
(LAC) initiative, in partnership with
Carmarthenshire County Council and
Children In Need. Where, through a
team of highly skilled mentors, the
youngsters receive support on a 1-1
basis and through attending LAC
clubs. As well as help and support in
areas such as school work, the
youngsters take part in life skills sessions,
and also receive therapeutic support such as
massage and relaxation therapies.
