• Investigate how major areas of biomedical research are translated into healthcare
• Explore the role of investigators, federal funding, private foundations and individual activists in shaping biomedical research
• Learn how research is conducted, via tours and demonstrations in labs and core facilities
• Develop skills for effective communication and working in teams

• Modern DNA sequencing, genomics and bioethics
• Stem cells and gene therapy
• Neuroscience and behavior
• Immunology and emerging infectious disease
• Biomedical engineering and medical devices
• Cancer: history of our understanding and treatment & the impact of DNA sequencing
