Crocheted Knockers
Crocheted Knockers are breast prosthesis used by cancer patients after a mastectomy. They are crocheted in
the shape of a breast with cotton yarn (acrylic yarns should not be used). When Crocheted Knockers are
placed in a bra, they take the shape and feel of a real breast.
To be part of the worldwide Knitted Knockers Charities, Inc effort (knittedknockers.info), all you have to do is
make a single Crocheted Knocker. Then you can either: 1) donate the completed knockers to Knitted Knockers
Charities, Inc at 3133 S Lindsay Rd #107, Gilbert, Az 85249 and we will give them to breast cancer survivors
free of charge; 2) contact one of the regional Knocker organizations identified at knittedknockers.info; 3) find
someone in your area to donate them to directly. You've just made a difference in women's life!

Notes: To make the knocker, crochet in a continuous spiral without joining the rounds.
Each round of the Front is worked in three sections. Beginning on Round 5, mark the last stitch of each section
with a stitch marker, but use a different colored marker to mark the beginning of the round as indicated in the
pattern. On subsequent rounds, move the markers up as you come to them.
Numbers for a Size A Knocker are given first, with the numbers for other sizes in brackets. If only one number
is given, it applies to all sizes.
Directions:
Front:
Make a Magic Ring.
Rnd 1: 6 sc in ring. Close ring.
Rnd 2: (Sc, inc) 3 times. (9 sts)
Rnd 3: (Sc, sc2tog) 3 times. (6 sts)
Rnd 4: Inc in each stitch around. (12 sts)
Rnd 5: (Sc 2, inc in each of next 2 sts, pm on last st just worked) 3 times, but on the third repeat use a different
colored stitch marker to mark the beginning of the round. (18 sts)
Rnd 6: (Sc 4, inc in each of the next 2 sts) 3 times. (24 sts)
Rnd 7: (Sc 7, inc in next st) 3 times. (27 sts)
Rnd 8: (Sc around to 1 st before the next marked st, then inc in the next st and in the marked st) 3 times.
Rnd 9: (Sc around to the next marked st, then inc in marked st) 3 times.
Repeat Rounds 8 and 9 until you have 81 [90, 99, 108, 117] stitches total.
Next Rnd: Sc in the back loop only of the first 8 sts, ch 6, skip next 6 sc, sc in the back loop only of the
remaining sts in the round.
Next Rnd: Sc in the back loop only of the first 8 sts, sc in next 6 chs, sc in the back loop only of the remaining
sts in the round. (81 [90, 99, 108, 117] sts)
Back:
You will now be working decrease rounds to make the Back of the Knocker.
Rnd 1: (Sc to 3 sts before the next marked st, then sc2tog twice) 3 times. (75 [84, 93, 102, 111] sts)
Repeat Rnd 1, decreasing 6 sts total each Round, until you have 6 sts total remaining. On the last round, you
may not have 3 sts left before the marked st, so you may need to work (sc 1, sc2tog) 3 times in order to
be left with 6 sts total.
After completing the last Round, fasten off and cut the yarn, leaving an 8-10” tail. Weave the tail in and out of
the remaining stitches and pull to tighten and gather them up.

Finishing:
• Use the tail from the Back to tack the Front and Back pieces together through the center, so that the Back will be
concave and will not sit against the scar and chafe or irritate it.
• Weave in all ends.

determine the size of your Knocker.
5 inches across = Size A
5½ inches across = Size B
6 inches across = Size C
6½ inches across = Size D
