STEP 1.- Drew the lion’s head using the ‘PEN TOOL’.- Curved areas of the lion’s head using the ‘CONVERT POINT TOOL’. - Used the ‘PAINT BUCKET TOOL’ to fill it black. This was for the outer
coating of the lion’s head/Maine.- Hid this layer and created a new one so I could make the lions inner Maine as
shown below.
STEP 2.- Drew the lion’s inner head/Maine and ears using the ‘PEN TOOL’.- Curved areas of the lion’s inner head/Maine and ears using the ‘CONVERT
POINT TOOL’. - Used the ‘PAINT BUCKET TOOL’ to fill the inner head/Main brown and the
ears badge.- Hid this layer and created a new one so I could make the facial features as
shown below.
STEP 3.- Drew the lion’s facial features using both the ‘PEN TOOL’ to get the outline
and the ‘BRUSH TOOL’ to make the facial features bold.
STEP 4.- Used the ‘BRUSH TOOL’ to do the outline of the face, then used the ‘PAINT BUCKET TOOL’ to fill the rest of the face badge and the nose pink.
STEP 5.- I then started to unhide all of the layers so that I could put the lions face
together. I then grouped the layers to make them one layer instead of having three different layers.
- I then used the ‘ERASER TOOL’ to neaten edges and add more definition to the face.
STEP 6.- I then started to add a variety of effects to make the image look more lifelike.
For example I used the ‘Bevel & Emboss’ effect to give the image more of 3D look mixed with the ‘Drop Shadow’ effect to really make it stand out of the page. I then went on to add the ‘Inner Shadow’ effect to make parts of the inner image stand out more and to also make the whole image ever so slightly transparent.
- I then used the ‘Inner & Outer Glow’ effects to make the image stand out even more and to give it a glow, still keeping the image lifelike with a slight glow on the colours.
- Fade
STEP 7.- After adding the effects I decided to use the ‘Paint bucket tool’ to change the
colour the lions eyes to red.
STEP 8. - To make this background I used the ‘quick shapes tool’ to create a rectangular
shape. I then used the ‘gradient tool’ to blend the two colours shown. - I then started to add effects to the background. The effects I used dimmed the
colours so they weren’t so bright and also a paint effect so the background would look like it had been painted.
This is what the logo looks like when it is put together.
STEP 9.
- I then went on to add the text to my logo using the ‘Text Tool’.- After that I changed the colour of the text to a burnt orange. - I then went on to add effects to the text to make it look 3D and bold. I used the
‘drop shadow effect’, the ‘Bevel & Emboss effect’, the ‘Drop Shadow effect’, the ‘Inner Shadow effect’, the ‘Outer Glow effect’ and the ‘Inner Glow effect’ to make the wording look 3D.
