RESEARCH AREAMy research concerns the impact of social computing systems in organizations. With the pervasive-ness of computer mediated and tools, individuals can collaborate and coordinate activities beyond theirdesktop. Applications of social computing systems are exemplified in cases of citizen science, free/libreopen source software development projects and many others. My research focus assesses the impact ofsocial computing tools in the area of health care. My work contributes to studies of IT impact, systemsdesign, and social implications of increasing collaboration made possible on the web.

TEACHING EXPERIENCEProgramming in PythonDesigned curriculum and co-taught a two-week introductory programming courses for undergraduatestudents at the iSchool Inclusion Institute (i3). During the course students were introduced to basicprogramming concepts and basic machine learning using Python. The learning objective was to intro-duce students to applied programming for iSchool researchers.

IST 444 Information Reporting and Presentation (2 lectures; Faculty Mentor: Bruce Kingma)Developed lectures and interactive class activities for undergraduate students introducing Excel chartsand graphs and infographics. Evaluated student presentations and interviews.

IST 755 Strategic Information Management (2 lectures; Faculty Mentor: Jason Dedrick)Designed course modules for iSchool capstone course focusing on increasing use of data in decision-making. Designed a module where students used Weka to identify customers .

IST 619 Applied Data Science (1 lecture; Faculty Mentor: Jian Qin) Course TA, graded papers, reviewed student projects and lectured students on “big data” technologies focusing on NoSQL sys-tems.
