The Queen's Baton relay began when the baton, which contains Queen Elizabeth II'smessage to the athletes, left Buckingham Palace on 29 October 2009. The baton willarrive at the 2010 Games opening ceremony on 3 October 2010, after visiting the other70 nations of the Commonwealth and travelling throughout India, reaching millions ofpeople to join in the celebrations for the Games.
The baton was designed by Michael Foley, a graduate of the National Institute ofDesign. It is a triangular section of aluminium twisted into a helix shape and then coatedwith coloured soils collected from all regions of India. The coloured soils are a first forthe styling of a Queen's Baton. A jewel-encrusted box was used to house the Queen'smessage, which was laser-engraved onto a miniature 18 carat gold leaf representativeof the ancient Indian 'patras. The Queen's baton is ergonomically contoured for ease ofuse. It is 664 millimetres high, 34 millimetres wide at the base, and 86 millimetres wideat the top and weighs 1,900 grams.

The commonwealth games may add to the pride of the Indianeconomy, but, in reality is our nation even ready to host the games???Has the government been able to fulfill the expectations of the
masses???Of great concern the Answer is NO. According to M.S Gill, when hetook over the 3 main stadiums, the work hadnt even started, until2008.
Sheila dixit states a cause to be nervous. The biggest challenge forthem is to host the games completing all facilities on time. Thus, for
this reason the government is no doubt stressed.

The present scenario of Delhi, the host capital is no doubt alarming. Work is not
being completed on time, projects are lying pending, people are feeling against
the government. Thus, according to the present situation it can be said that the commonwealth games
in present has shaken the Indian economy to a great extent. The nation is in a state
of run, to host and complete the games on time.
The future scenario may be of help to the nation as the various industries can be
given a boom, but, at present the government actually needs to buck up so that nohindrance is caused to the name of the nation.
