We are so glad that you are with us today! Our service
will be to praise and worship God and to encourage and uplift us to face another week. We will sing (Eph. 5:19, Col. 3:16), pray (James 5:15-18), and partake of the Lord’s Supper to remember our Savior’s sacrifice on the cross (Acts 20:7, 1 Cor. 11:23-26). We will also give back a portion of the monetary blessings that God has granted us so that we can carry out His work in our community (1 Cor. 16:2, 2 Cor. 9:7). We will also study a lesson from His Word that will hopefully be applicable to our daily lives, so that we can be equipped to handle the pressures of this world and reach those outside of
Christ (2 Tim. 2:15).Elders

Tuesday Ladies’ Bible Class will resume Tuesday, September 4th at 9:30 AM. We will begin the year with a devotional
and potluck lunch followed by a brief meeting to discuss food teams and logistics and changes to the teams. All ladies are
welcome and encouraged to come!
into Christ last week. Please encourage her as she begins her walk with Christ.
We express sympathy to Helen Stephens and her family in the passing of her sister-in-law Deborah Stephens. We also express sympathy to Ernestine Hall and her
family in the passing of her sister Lorene Reece.
Last week, we spent some time looking at the Book of Jude and the urgency of its message. The short epistle, written sometime in the 60s AD, was penned by Jesus’ half-brother. Jude outlines the intended audience in verse 1 as “the called (cf. Rom. 8:28), those loved (unconditionally) by God, and those preserved (kept) by Christ.” More specifically, the audience seems to be Jewish converts who would have been intimately familiar with the Old Testament.
On Sunday, we spent time using the opening four verses and verses 17-23 as “bookends” to show the urgency of the fight Jude is describing, a battle against ungodliness. We discovered together that:
1) We need to be preparing for a fight (v. 20-21 provide the battle plan)!
2) We need to focus on the fight (epagónizomai – literally “focus on the agony”)!
3) We need to understand the enemy (ungodliness)!
This morning our task is to unpack the remainder of the letter in verses 5-16 and conclude by looking at the doxology in the final verses of Jude’s letter! We will see the dangerous consequences of ungodliness, a word which is used half a dozen times in the epistle, and fall on our knees in praise of God our Savior and Jesus our Lord!
