Connection to success: CeBIT Bilişim Eurasia and CeBIT Synergy Summit

CeBIT Bilişim Eurasia and CeBIT Synergy Summit closed its doors on Sunday, December 2nd 2012 with successful

results. The fair attracted 143.728 visitors from different industries using ICT and public authorities on ministry level both from Turkey and abroad. The event hosted 10 ministers from Turkey, TRNC and Poland during 4 days.

Eurasia’s number one Information, Technology and Communication Platform, CeBIT Bilişim Eurasia and CeBIT Synergy summit were held between 29 November – 2 December 2012 for the first time in CNR Expo Center. CeBIT Bilişim Eurasia had 4 main sections: CeBIT Bilişim pro, CeBIT Bilişim gov, CeBIT Bilişim lab and CeBIT Bilişim life like in previous years. The fair has focused more on the subjects of "Smart Living Concepts" and "Life in Smart Municipalities”. Considering Turkey's powerful position being a benchmark for the neighboring countries, running projects on improvement of life standards in growing cities are solved with ICT. The solutions are focused on the fields of communication, security, transport, air pollution, education, health and infrastructure. Besides “Smart Living Concepts”, the “ERP Area” (Enterprise Resource Planning Area) special section was a major platform for the cooperation of the participating ERP companies and the development of the Turkish ERP market. It also contributed the use of contemporary software in Turkey’s industry. Visitors had the opportunity to experience different ERP/Business software applications under one roof. The International CeBIT Partner of CeBIT Bilişim Eurasia and CeBIT Synergy Summit was the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. This cooperation provided an important opportunity for all national and international companies willing to invest and cooperate in the field of ICT with Northern Cyprus. The Undersecretary of Ministry of Transport and Public Works Suat Yeldener said: “...As accepted in the whole IT world CeBIT Bilişim Eurasia and CeBIT Synergy Summit is a platform where the heart of numerical world beats. Therefore the acceptance of T.R.N.C. as the International CeBIT Partner is a very important situation for us. We consider being the International CeBIT Partner in CeBIT Bilişim Eurasia as a significant step for pointing out the status we reach today in IT, and as well as for heading towards new markets and cooperations. Participation of T.R.N.C. in CeBIT Bilişim Eurasia as International CeBIT Partner will contribute significantly to the target of T.R.N.C. being an IT Island and Country...” During the exhibition an e-waste collection campaign called “THERE MUST BE NO WASTE IN NATURE, NEITHER IN INFORMATICS!” was held in cooperation with the Earth Association in Turkey in order to collect electronic waste from visitors and recycle them. During the campaign, which is organized to draw the attention to the soil and water pollution created by hazardous and toxic matters contained in electronic waste, visitors delivered their mobile phones, charging devices, electrical devices remaining idle in their homes and offices to the stand. Under the scope of CeBIT Synergy Summit; seminars, conferences and panels were organized during the exhibition for 4 days. The summit program was presented to managers in charge of special provincial administrations in the Middle-East, North Africa, CIS countries and our country and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, officials from related public organizations and institutions, mayors, deputy mayors, data processing experts. The summit hosted 4770 registered audience in total.

The fair and the Summit hosted 10 Ministers between 29 November – 2 December 2012. The Turkish Ministers of Maritime, Communication and Transportation Binali Yıldırım realized the opening of CeBIT Bilişim Eurasia 2012. During the fair period, The Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bağış, The Minister of Environment and Urbanism Erdoğan Bayraktar, The Minister of Finance Mehmet Şimşek, The Minister of Education Ömer Dinçer, The Minister of Youth and Sport Suat Kılıç, The Minister of Foresty and Water Works Veysel Eroğlu, The Ministers from T.R.N.C.: Hamza Ersan Saner, Sunat Atun, Hüseyin Özgürgün , Undersecratary of Ministry of Economy of Poland Darıusz Bogdan and Undersecretary of State, Ministry of Administration and Digitisation of Poland Malgorzata Olszweska took part in the organization. Fatih education Project, which is one of Turkey’s greatest education projects, aiming to provide each child a tablet PC, was also on the agenda this year at the exhibition as well as in seminars and conferences. The meeting on “Fatih Project and the Importance of Informatics in Education” attended by the Minister of National Education Ömer Dinçer was held on Sunday December 2nd 2012. To enable the participation of our disabled citizens to the active labor force, Turkish Informatics Association (TBD) Istanbul Branch organized forums during CeBIT Synergy Summit with the participation of Turkey’s Young Entrepreneurs and Innovative Young Persons. The Chairman of the Board of Directors Levent Karadağ said:”... Within the scope of Synergy Summit, together with the Barrier-Free Information Platform Turkey we organized a seminar for one day which was named “Barrier-Free IT Day”. In this seminar we have focused on how we can overcome the barriers with IT. To answer this question we brought the government, the non-governmental organizations and people from business world together. At the same time together with the Istanbul University we interviewed companies and people who participated in the CeBIT exhibition. We will share the results very soon. We are following up CeBIT Bilişim, CeBIT Synergy and such words with social media programs. Subsequent to the specialists’ evaluation of the data we collected we will create a report of what we gained through CeBIT for companies, people and citizens. We will share this report for the development of new strategies in the future. We believe that CeBIT Bilişim will be a milestone for catching the 2023 Vision...”. The number of international visiting countries have increased from 85 to 93 this year. Hosted buyer delegations are welcomed mainly from Middle Eastern, African and neighboring countries. Business delegations had also chance to make B2B discussions with the exhibitors in a special matchmaking area. In addition to trade agreements and long-term business contacts established at the fair, innovative products and services like “Identity verification system based on palm print” by SGK (Institute of Social Security), Space exhibition held and Astronaut Education portal displayed by Turksat, wide spectrum of Turk Telekom products and applications using cloud technology, innovative products of İşbank such as Parakod, just in time card print and Bio-ID Bankmatics were the highlights of the show. This year's show hosted exhibitors from 23 different countries. These exhibitors presented 1071 different brands to visitors coming from all around Turkey and abroad. The number of international exhibiting countries has also increased from 17 to 23 compared to last year's figures. Besides individual participations, country pavilions from China, Czech Republic, Germany, Iran, South Korea and Taiwan took place at the fair. “The German Pavilion on CeBIT Bilisim Eurasia 2012 was a great success for the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology, presenting the pavilion, and its partners and supporters AUMA (Association of the German Trade Fair Industry) and BITKOM (German Association for Information Technology, Telecommunications and New Media). The information desk of the pavilion was very busy throughout all four days of CeBIT fair. The desk handled cooperation requests of Turkish companies and answered questions of young IT professionals, mainly students, which were interested in gaining work experience in Germany. In total 15 companies from Germany, co-exhibitors on the German pavilion, presented very successfully their products and services to the business visitors.” said Mr. Bernd Klusmann the Head of Department Communication Technologies & Telematics from German pavillion.
