COMMUNITY CATCH-UP
Welcome to our twelfth edition of Community Catch-Up.
October 2017 Hi Everyone,
Some exciting news for us, and in turn the communities of Rosewood & the surrounding Districts, we have successfully negotiated the use of the Girl Guides Hut through Qld Girl Guides. We are presently in the process of signing a 10 year lease for the property. This community space will be used as a Services Hub and will be open to community groups to utilise when needed. The management of the facility will be through us at the Community Centre. As a result of this negotiation, Girl Guides will be starting up again in Rosewood in 2018. It’s always great to see positive changes and growth occurring within our Community.
If you have any questions on this project please do not hesitate to contact me on 07 5464 1544 or email [email protected]
Kindest Regards,
Donna Hanlon
Community Services Worker

September School Holiday Fun at the Rosewood Community Centre
Through funding received from Ipswich City Council we put on a Laser Tag day for teens (and littler ones that came along on the day). We saw 57 teens/children and some extra Adults enjoying themselves fully.
We also had craft sessions and the very talented Jeffro the Magician. We would highly recommend Jeffro for any event.
Our target group for our School Holiday Activities are teens (but are not restricted to), because it has been identified that there is a lack of activities available for this age group in our community. Due to their ages and that they are more independent to access activities; parents often (not all) continue to work during the school holidays. Therefore providing an activity targeting teens gives an opportunity for them to independently access an activity at a local level.
Please note as opportunities for increased funding become available larger events targeting all ages will be held and advertising for these events will be done on a larger scale.
But at present we are happy and grateful to be able to offer one activity at least each School Holiday period for teens,
and in turn any others that may just come along on the day.
