Developing a commercial software application,
and writ ing up the research on its development,
were successfully accomplished by combining the PRINCE2 framework with
three software l ife cycle development models:
Waterfall, Spiral and Rapid Application Development
(Waterfall + Spiral + RAD + PPM Prince2)
Combined Software Life Cycle Development (SLCD) Models
Combined 3 SLCD Models & PRINCE2
Overlaps Evolving from the Combined PRINCE2 and SLCD ModelsTwo areas: Quality and Risk Management – merged in respect to this
combined model
Quality Management Utilising the ‘Quality’ component
Of PRINCE2 and the quality
Assurance of the SLCD models
allowed for the project and final
deliverables to be assessed
periodically, checked and approved
by both those directing the project
and those who would finally use, or
access, the products. For the SLCD models the quality
testing was accomplished with
usability testing techniques and
tools.
Risk Management
Risks were effectively managed, controlled and monitored by utilising the Management of Risk component of Prince2 in combination with Risk Assurance aspects of the SLCD models.
In the initial write up and project planning of the project proposal and business case for the sponsor organization it was necessary to undertake a risk analysis that would inform on the viability of undertaking this project.
