COLLEGE CONNECTIONS ACADEMY2010-2011
The College Connections Academy is a partnership between Cumberland County Schools and Fayetteville Technical Community College to provide expanded opportunities for more students to participate in career and technical courses and to expose students to a variety of high skill career options.
• The College Connections Academy (CCA) allows high school juniors and seniors to take courses on FTCC’s main campus, bundled so that most will lead to a community college certificate.
• CCA Students will take classes at FTCC Monday through Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
• Transportation will be provided by Cumberland County Schools to FTCC from each of the ten comprehensive high schools.
• Each certificate program offered for 2010-2011 will be a one-year program. Students have the option of participating in one program in their junior year and a second one in their senior year.
• Successful completion of one of the certificate programs will entitle the students to participate in the FTCC spring graduation. Students will also receive an honors cord that may be worn at their high school graduation.
• CCA Students will be responsible for textbooks and supply costs. Supply costs may include uniforms and special tools or equipment.
• CCA Offerings for 2010-2011 school year include:
• Carpentry • Event Planning
• Demi-Chef • Gaming Design
• Digital Graphics • Medical Coding Specialist
• Exploring Health Careers • Nail Technology
• Elementary Teacher Education • Sustainable Design
• NOTE: Carpentry and Exploring Health Careers will lead to a completion award and NOT a community college certificate.
